I heard here that there is gonna be 12 teams on VCT2025, who is this gonna be possible?? Are they gonna add an extra team slot for Ascension winners?

Dont the winners of ascension join the leagues to each make 12 teams per league?
fr. if that's true might be more hype with an extra ascension slot if that's the case.
this has been known for a while. Ascension teams stay in the league for 2 years then they get (potentially) relegated
Basically, starting 2025 all ascension team go by this ruling :
- Did not qualify to split 2 play-offs = relegated to their challengers region and have to play 1 whole year of challengers + ascension tournament if they want to come back
- Did qualify for split 2 play-offs but did not make it to champions = relagated to the ascension tournament right after champions to fight for their spot, if they manage to win then they can play franchise the year after
- Did qualify for champions = you stay in franchising for one more year
but I think the teams ascending this year will be exempt from these rules since the change was made mid season
Also since there will be 2 ascension team if
both don't get to playoffs = both are relegated
Both get to playoffs = both have a chance to play in ascension for their spots
Both get champs = higher placed team keeps spot lower goes to ascension
a team has 1 year in tier 1 and unless they make champs they get relegated but if they make playoffs they get straight into ascension and dont need to requalify. the changes take place next year.
so G2 would stay in t1
DRG would have to reascend in the ascension tournament
GM8 and Bleed would have to requalify for ascension.
if both ascension team make champs the lower placed team would be relegated into the ascension tournament
if both teams dont make champs then both get relegated and two teams ascend instead of just 1
overall its pretty bad for the orgs but good for better competition,
also a team making champs and needing to requalify is kinda shitty
some of yall werent here on off season ig but this was announced since pretty much franchising got announced, yes there will be 12 slots whoever wins ascension from every region will be participating on the league next year without having to face any other team
Well it was plan since 2023, only changement they announced is that we will not have 14 team in 2024 as it was planned at first
