My initial thought on this is there must be something we don't know behind the scenes with Kpzet, not necessarily in a bad way but maybe comm issues or something, because he has performed great from the outside. This is also not that big of a surprise since they tried replacing him before the second split but ultimately decided no to because the new options weren't better.

Talking more about the change itself I think it's close to a 1 to 1 change individually, Jesse has been absolutely killing it lately. They have had the most time out of any team to prepare Ascension so I wanna believe everything will be figured out by the time it starts

Jesse was playing in the Play-ins though? So surely the preparation would not be at the same level?
I guess with the weight of ascension, teams will do anything to try and gain any marginal improvement to win.

Jesse is good, probably a slight upgrade, but I don't think this move moves the needle on Barca's ascension hopes that much.

It looks to me more of a we need to replace Kpzet than a we need to get Jesse if that makes any sense. I don't think moving the needle was the goal here

Seems odd.
If they needed to replace Kpzet they could've tried their hand at someone else much sooner instead of waiting for jesse (who might have made ascension) to finish competing.

I say it because it's not the first time they try to replace him so they clearly, which makes 0 sense from a performance standpoint
And honestly I don't think there are many better smokers than Jesse not in ascension other than some of the turks, which I guess you would rather avoid for possible VISA issues on such a short notice

1 I don't think it was necessarily things going bad with the team. Things were clearly not going bad with the team before split 2 and they already tried to bench kpzet for some reason, so I think we're just missing information there.

2 Jesse is not a rising talent more than Kpzet is a veteran. Jesse has been around longer than Kpzet and in better teams. Matter of fact Kpzet was scouted out of ranked by Lucas not that long ago. And I would argue Jesse is currently in better form and has carried his team a lot more than Kpzet. 3 Idk about the roster lock thing, maybe they did it before but it was just reported now? No fucking clue, I wanna think they've been mindful about that and they know what they're doing. If not, at least it wouldn't be the first time they fail to bench Kpzet and end up keeping him and winning xD

Jesse is 100% rising talent. Hes never looked anywhere near this good and (at least to my knowledge) its the first time his team has made it to a notable t1.5 tourney. This is his "pick me up for t1" year. So with rising I didnt mean rookie.

Kpzet made it through playins quite convincingly last year as you might remember, this being his second qualification in a row. Hence me referring to him as the veteran; hes been here before.

Eeeeeh not sure about form. Both have been insane in their respective leagues and since I dont rate France that highly this year (a couple rosters hogging a lot of talent hard flopped and m8 just ascended) I struggle comparing their stats.

And oml it'd be tragic if they have to keep him, win ascension and then bench him.

Fair enough Kpzet has played bigger tournaments, Jesse has been around longer and had better teamates. I think it is a very 1 for 1 change idk

We'll have to see how they look Ig, they're in the harder group. Can't wait for Ascension tbh

Fyi, Barsa coach made a stream yesterday explaining the whole situation, was pretty transparent about it. He basically said he felt really sorry for Kpzet and that this was extremely unfair to him who deserves to be in Ascension. He mentioned they literally just finished tryouts this week

This tells us
1 No bad blood with Kpzet from the coaching staff part he genuinely sounded sorry, but felt like it was the right choice
2 They held tryouts which means they first kicked KP and then signed someone. Meaning they decision of benching Kp came first not the other way around
3 They do not have much ready for Ascension this just happened now
