Like people legit got so pressed when zest and rb dropped but then immediately glazed flashback when they saw him. People were confused on beyn and his addition to the roster and then realised he’s possibly the 2nd best rookie of the year. Everyone said foxy was garbage and then saw his sentinel and started glazing him. So now when DRX is making another change people are saying they will be worst in the league? I say we should wait and see

its impossible for DRX to be worst in the league when DFM and GE exists. It should be worst worse, because the original roster is consistent top 4-6 AND making internationals. Releasing experienced players (Zest/Rb/Stax) for internationally unproven rookies will only remove their consistency and would end up NOT making internationals cause Pacific now have GenG/PRX (Guarantee international) and T1/RRQ/TLN (fighting for 3/4/5) with DRX.
what exactly did zest rb and stax ever prove. They made it far in tournament, but their only win condition EVER was a good performance from BuZz and/or Mako(sometimes rb but he’s really inconsistent). If they had a overall very solid team like maybe NRG/Optic or 2022 FPX or LOUD back in 2022 where all 5 players had their moments, i would agree, but that clearly isn’t the case. The team has was always top heavy and very dependent on maki and buZz, which is also a sign of insufficient igling. Choked many leads, another sign of inconsistency and bad igling.

consistently made internationals + internationally proven player. What has flashback and BeYN has prove? consistently miss out on qualifying to international tournament (by losing to GenG both times). The newest addition proves are they LOST their consistency, The gamble to remove experienced players for rookies doesn't pay off unlike T1 and TH, results show.
Like alecks said when signing monyet, when new addition comes in, the more the team have to re-learn everything from scratch to accommodate the new player into the system and each time someone comes in (Foxy9, Flashback, BeYN) the inconsistency shows.
Ok so they lost the consistency of reaching 5th-6th?? Yeah the team seems to have been set back a little, but it really is unfair to expect rookies to produce results immediately. And you act like the two teams that DRX have lost to aren't the two beat teams in the region, including the masters shanghai winners. At the end of the day, the old DRX would probably achieve similar results. They really haven't become worse by much, so I think we just need to give this iteration of DRX a bit more time.
also, it’s only the competition that has gottten better, DRX haven’t gotten worse, that why they need new players to compete at a higher level. Look at gen g. They were 1 game away from making tokyo last year. Why didn’t they just keep their roster, and keep trying to improve with it? Instead they made changes got better players, took a gamble on Karon and they are the best team in the world now. It’s hypocritical to say that DRX are doing the wrong thing when they literally realized that they can’t compete anymore and are doing the same thing Gen G is doing. It’s also weird to say they are regressing when they literally played with a sub for all of stage 2. I’d like to Gen G try and qualify without their main sentinel playing. However when DRX looks good with a sub but narrowly falls short, it’s called regression.
Why didn’t they just keep their roster
for whatever reason GenG always give 1 year contract to everyone. Last year Meteor 2 year contract, everyone else 1 year. This year Karon 2 year, everyone else 1 year, For last year case Bail and TS always stick together since TNL days, proves when bail/TS/GodDead all stick together and join ODG in China.
The title of the thread is why people think DRX is awful, I think they are awful cause they made incorrect decision, the gamble to release 3 experience players for academy player rookie costs them not once but 2 international qualification. To get back to their 4th-6th internationally with other pacific teams improving could take a while, and I wouldn't be surprise if Buzz leaves end of season (contract expiry) too to T1. #C9KoreaBuzz back with Autumn, but with T1 now.
did it really cost them qualifications tho. First they lost to Gen g, who got 2nd at masters. Pretty much better than any DRX placement EVER. Then they lost to PRX(who 2-0’d drx with a sub last year) and lost to gen g who are the best team itw currently. Instead of just spewing bullshit, actually apply context and you’ll see that DRX haven’t really gotten worse from last year at all, there is just 1 extra team that’s elite in Pacific now and that knocks them out of competition. So instead of settling for the same thing every year, it’s better to actually do something else and improve.
DRX had the same roster for years and reached their peak in 2022
Look at all the good teams since 2023
LOUD(2023) had 2 new players that haven’t proven anything but did well and outplayed DRX at every event.
Fnatic back in 2022 brought in alfajer another unproven player, alfajer is current their best player
PRX brought in an something, a player who hasn’t touched tier 1 valorant before them
NRG got top 4 at tokyo when their best player was s0m. A player who haven’t made a single international event before NRG took Optic’s core.
Team Heretics brought woot benjy, Reins, and miniboo from tier 2, all unproven players.
Karmine Corp’s best player in was on the worst NA tier 2 last year
All of EG last year were unproven tier 2 talent and the team was expected to be the worst in Americas

Teams that have won internationals b4 have taken that risk, teams who haven’t done anything also takes that risk.
But why can’t DRX?
Why is it a bad decision when they do it, especially since we saw a clear regression last year.

2023 Qualify to internationals = Good, successful, 2024 doesn't qualify international = bad, unsuccessful. Result MATTERS and if not qualifying international and players need to leave doesn't mean worse than end of discussion,
Roster change can have positive outcome like your examples, or can be negative outcome like DRX. Its a gamble that could potentially pay off, or ended in failure (not qual international turney).
But why can’t DRX? Cause they lost when it matters, To GenG. TWICE.
Also it's not spewing bullshit, I'm talking purely of results, they did lose to GenG (not bullshit). DRX didn't make Madrid (not bullshit), didn't make Shanghai (not bullshit).
Why is it a bad decision when they do it?
Cause it doesn't ended up like your successful example, that's why its awful or u could call it failed attempt instead. Better?
