It's like fighting a hydra with regenerative powers. I have at least one summative assessment to worry about every day of this week and every time I get rid of one another one just comes to prick me in the behind. It's annoying as heck and I want it to stop.

it got easier-ish for me when I started working.
you don't constantly have "assignments" looming over you but you still have to go to a location every day, and it's pretty grueling still, and depending on job you'll still have assignments and deadlines. The good news is that once you're home, you're home. Unless you're on a 24/7 on-call job (NEVER EVER DO THESE, EVEN FOR IT JOBS) you can get home and relax after your shift. No homework or after-work assignments, no nothing.

I've got at least half a decade until I start working but I'll remember your advice!

it's something to look forward to. honestly I wish I cherished my high-school years more, but having money to spend on stuff you want and also feeling like you're ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING (sitting in a classroom learning about some random ship from history didn't feel rewarding to me) helped me a lot. I have a decently chill job but genuinely I enjoy it 10x more than school, besides that school is fantastic for the social aspect. Just keep working hard and hopefully get a chill job and you'll be fine. Also don't believe adults that complain about how hard it is because of stuff like "taxes" my taxes took 10 minutes to file and I had a 1040 which most people complained about filing.

I'm most certainly looking forward to it! I'm pretty excited for uni as well tbh

#22

yeah uni is also better, if you're not fakeflagging you have to do your gen-eds which are pretty cringe (they aren't a thing in most other countries, lol) but once you get past those you study generally what you want to do and it's more specialized, which many people enjoy significantly more.

I am fakeflagging for now but to be fair I do aspire to attend university in North America so I probably will encounter these gen-eds you speak of.

Yeah just be warned Uni in USA is extremely expensive and bachelors takes 4 years instead of 3 like most countries in Europe. That's ONLY because pretty much an entire years worth of credits is just gen-eds (college level math, english and science) and they are required.

I'm looking to go to Canada but yeah I'm expecting 4 years.

Canada to my knowledge is a bit more affordable than the US, but yeah they still require gen-eds. Glad you're doing your research and wishing you luck in Uni once you reach it!

yeah but most of the times people will also want to get a master's degree so it's almost always 3+2 years total

#37

still -1 year compared to NA but yeah you are right

you can skip most gen-eds if you take advanced courses in high school. I did a bunch of AP classes and didn't have to take a single gen-ed in college because I did well enouhg on the AP tests. I think it's the same for IB

Here’s some tip to make school easier:

  • find [insert textbook] solution.pdf for every subject.
  • Always ask for previous years test/exam, cross search the question online and u’ll get the materials on your exam.

The issue is that this year they changed a bunch of stuff like the content taught as well as the format for the exams themselves. But still, good advice!
