Mid Event

I don't know if its because of the time difference but I find myself not enjoying the event as much. I've loved the matches and like the teams but it just kind of feels empty otherwise. It also feels like there are a lot more stomps and inconsistencies with the teams. What do you guys think?

which you'd assume would be different since the Chinese are super into E-Sports. I guess it hurts when all of their teams got eliminated. Maybe it'll be different in the Mercedes Benz arena.

It might also just be a cultural difference since Asian culture isn't that rowdy.

The Shanghai stream is just cringe, they take too long sometimes showing replays and you miss the first 15-20 seconds of a round sometimes. Crowd is so ass. lock//in crowd was crazy even if they only cared about BR team i still believe lock//in had the best crowd. Valorant crowds have always been kinda cringe. Look at the crowd for IEM Dallas in CS2. Stewie being the only american on g2 as a stand in and we made g2 honorary NA team and the crowd goes crazy

The crowds in Valorant will never be as rowdy and fun as the CS crowds. The fan base is too soft and cringe.

99% of the ticket buyers are cosplayers and discord mods.

I liked the Madrid crowd. IMO foreign crowds tend to be more fun.

I like watching good valorant regardless of what teams are qualified. While good valorant has been played for the most part, the rest of the things make the event feel empty.

Idk i havent felt the joy of valorant esports in a long time now

Just picture Champions 2022, a classic match like DRX vs OpTic, that shit was just so hype, it feels like nowadays nobody cares about valorant anymore

I think that's honestly one of the biggest problems. I feel like previous events had storylines to follow. This year has felt off for the most part. I did enjoy seeing SEN win at Madrid though. I know a lot of people hate SEN but I enjoyed watching them prevail after so many years of being dookie. It was a good story. This event has nothing.

True. OpTic LOUD rivalry, teams like FPX DRX PRX just spiced up everything
Even last year there was some hype with LOUD, EG, Fnatic and allat

Shanghai on the other hand has teams like Heretics, G2, GenG, teams with 0 identity and the LAN icons OpTic core, LOUD, DRX, NaVi just missing

exactlyyy, SEN carried most of 2021 with just how nuts they were were and the game being new and hyped

2022 was dominated by Optic and Loud the real el clasico

2023 was the year of partnership with FNC dominating and EG going crazy

This year is mostly empty

event has nothing???????

Geng is a team that is made of washed kr players that were below mid their entire career before they joined, and they are trying for the second time to reach a grandfinal. Their own literal quote was "players who always landed 2nd are on a roster together to reach no 1"

Team Heretics are going on a miracle run with patitek as one of the best supporting stand-ins in EU

G2 are also proving everyone wrong by being the first ascension team to make it so far in an international, they have been through the most any team has ever been through from not entering franchising to grinding through ascenion and to almost not being accepted again.

100t have been a mid team all of 2022-2023 JUST LIKE SEN BTW, and when their talent finally gets a good igl and coach they start playing incredibly well (literally just sentinels story)

All these teams have 0 identity, nobody cares about g2 and heretics is a team full of rookies.

There is no storyline to follow, no rivalries, no matchups to await. I really hope LOUD, NRG, SEN, NaVi, DRX qualify for champs so we have some hype matches. FNS vs Saadhak would bring valorant esports back to life

and? You just want the same old same old? They've come to this tournament to find their identities, to show the world who they are as players, as people. You give them no chances as many do. I appreciate the old teams like nrg, sen, loud, drx but in order for this game to grow we need new identities new people. To create new rivalries, to create new story lines and create new valorant. It might be bland at first but this is their growth. FNS vs Saadhak wont happen forever, its time to find new people to match the current.

i didnt say i dont want new teams to come

sure this will build a new storyline for the future but im talking about right now, masters shanghai

Geng villains (to china) possibly winning chinese event?
g2 t2 to t1 winners?
100t redemption arc?
Heretics win with a sub and benjy going from pro fn to possbiliy winning valorant?

Surely at least the geng one interest you dont you think it'll be fucking crazy if the most hated team home crowd wins the tourney? I think your fav team got eliminated so u automatically uninterested in the event. Alot of people like that so it doesnt rlly matter

The only team that you've listed that is interesting is 100T just due to how Boostio has changed their culture.

But aside from that, there is no rivalry, nothing special. It's just teams winning games. Geng is a team that was only relevant this year due to their roster changes in the off-season. There is no history behind them. The only thing I see that holds them out is that they'd win APAC their first trophy. Which is why I'm personally rooting for them.

TH is only on a miracle run if you're dumb and didn't believe they'd make it far.

It's nice to see G2 go on their run since they almost got fucked out of tier 1. The core itself isn't that special imo, yes they've been together for a stupid long time but the only thing that has made me enjoy watching their games are the comebacks they make.

You are misreading what I am saying. You gave me examples of individual team storylines that I would be interested in if I was a fan of any of these teams. I am talking about storylines that affect the entirety of Valorant.

I'm so glad you mentioned champs 2022, by far the best event we've had and probably for a while. All the matches felt really exciting to watch, like you'd actually care about who gets eliminated or who qualifies .

Real asf
It feels like yesterday sitting there and watching 5 hours on end everyday

Champs 23 was a phenomenal event but it didnt give the vibe that Champs 22 gave.

Nowadays i couldnt be bothered to watch if its not a super hype matchup with a nice watchparty
