What really happened to FNATIC?

Let's keep all the hate aside (pointless to hate anyways) and try to think impartially and logically for a second here

FNC was the undisputable best team in the world in 2023.
They were literally running circles around all the teams and fell short only in champs where they were apparently facing burnout.
They are still the same team of five. The only change made was that of the Head Coach (keeping in mind Mini is still the Asst. coach)

What happened to this team?
What do you guys think is actually going wrong with them? (Keep in mind Boaster was never the fragger for the team. Lets keep recency bias for the Ascent match today aside)

mini not being head coach def has a lot of say into how fnatic play since elmapuddy is the one who calls the last shots and well, it hasn't been working out well

But it begs the question, what made the team go for Elmapuddy then.

All of them are top pros and must have seen something in him.

The coaching is not working out too well and its evident, but (incredibly stupid point incoming, since we don't know the other variables) since there were coaches like mCe, enghh on the market why would theyy go for Elma?

mini wanted to step down from the head coach role so it wasn't a fnatic decision. i think the only reason he's back is because they needed him to come back and he said he'd come back as an assistant coach

I understand mini stepping down was his decision. What I'm wondering about is why Elma? Why not someone else, someone more proven

It's sad to think that probably a hasty decision, coupled with boaster's unfortunate performance today lays all the blame on the igl. He wasn't great, but he's proven his mettle time and again

Competition has increased and they have gotten a bit washed.

It is unrealistic to think that ANY team in valorant can "consistantly" be good. Their run last year was insane and a record for the entirety of valorant. With the amount of work it takes to put in, and the amount of teams looking to hard anti you, it is so unrealistic just to be "the best" for longer than 1 event.

I mean, look at sentinels. Won Madrid, couldn't even qualify for regional playoffs. Not their fault too. The game is so volatile, it's almost impossible to maintain consistency

imo they didn't improve and innovate. Teams like EG with Lan experience together and improving after tokyo and PRX with their full roster would've done the same thing Loud did at champs had they face they faced off against FNC.

EG 2023 was one of a kind man. It was like the forces of the universe aligned all at once to make them gain momentum till they finally won Champs. I mean, look back at the end of 2022. People and orgs used to joke that EG didn't know they made franchising.

Mini not being the head coach
Bad map pool for them. Perma banning sunset and not having a strong map like icebox last year.
Not improving their stats as we saw on lotus, ascent. Their split comp is unique and they are successful.

They have been doing small mistakes that cost them the game. Compared to last year they don’t play as together as before. (Trading, pacing etc)
But I still think that them not having a strong map that can win against every team causes a massive problem for them.

I feel like alfa, leo, chronicle and derke aren't as consistent together anymore when it comes to aim. Back then they used to show up together, now they take turns. And tbh the calling/strats don't look as good. This team ran circles around top teams, now they can't even sell a fake
