Honestly, I blame the 1st Reykjavik. They leaned pretty hard into the whole NA vs EMEA idea to build hype. Never really seen there be an NA vs EMEA focus in any other eSports.

I don't think they tend to exist in the same spaces tbh. CS, LoL & Dota are probably the only ones previously where I've seen both and I don't really notice any EU vs NA vibes there.

I'm pretty sure COD is only big in NA, I've never heard anyone mention it in EU and I only just realised there is even an EU based team. I think NA tends to focus on more console oriented games than EU does, typically UK is like that as well.

nah NA EU fight in all those games, maybe just not as much as in valorant. prolly cuz CS >>> EU, LoL both shit and dota idk. I remember watching TI many years ago and there are a lot of NA vs EU spammer on twitch though.

It's pretty big in most esports.
Valorant is just the first time both regions have been competitive for a long time.
Normally one region falls off (for 1 reason or another).

I don't recall it being a thing in OWL, CS, LoL or Dota really. Maybe in R6 or COD? But from what of CDL I've followed its basically all NA anyway, I think there is 1 EU team. Definitely not a common one over here.

Overwatch killed EU with franchising.
CS there has been a little rivalry at points, but historically eu had always dominated.
LoL both regions are not competing for titles, there is a small rivalry but CN vs KR is the big one.

There is a NA vs EU rivalry in rocket league only issue is that most of the players are very young so its kinda odd to root against them.

The rivalries get bigger and louder when both regions are the ones competing for titles, NA & EMEA have won 8/9 valorant events.
