From what i've seen today, Damwon have made many crucial mistakes
Obviously Global esports played better
Its just that from what i've seen, there were many rounds that Damwon shouldn't have lost and they lost, and plays that they shouldve won but didnt win
If Damwon want to make it far in the LCQ, they need to step it up
theres a lot that contributed to damwon’s loss
I agree that there are so many problems with Damwon but the same could be said for GE as well -
ping adaptation - we know that Chennai and Korea are going to have ping issues. GE has always played tournaments on 8 ping or LAN like conditions, same for DWG.
internet issues - GE set up a new bootcamp and were getting unstable internet. Quite a lot of tech pauses were taken cause SkRossi and Hellranger were disconnecting again and again.
never having played an official outside korea - GE did not even get an opportunity to do so.
map pool (can only play 3/4 maps) - Honestly, GE has a big advantage. They play nearly all the maps in the pool but this is the fault of the team.
Hope they work on it as much as possible in the tournament and give a good fight in the lower bracket. They played well tbh.
The main difference I feel was the preparation. There are a lot of things I see DWG doing like not expecting a certain play or certain position which GE has done better and are better prepared to face. Also to mention, DWG didn't look that comfortable with their comp on split. Is it their permaban or something?
dwg played like shit, their decision making was awful and multiple rounds i was ???? at what their game plan was at all
i don’t care too much about the haven loss because if you lose both pistols and conversion rounds your economy is basically unsalvageable
but split and even ascent were really really questionable. the worst i’ve seen them look in a long time
overall a really unimpressive match of valorant, felt like a pug with the occasional breach astra play thrown in
I've watched Boaster's analysis on Futbolist vs Oxygen I think. DWG had the same problem on Split where they essentially gave up B main control in the early round, and they kind of sat back with their turret instead of gaining early info, which meant they were unable to make plays and decisions off of that.
I actually think that the KR teams will be massively overrated in LCQ. Since most of them plays in a LAN environment, i think this will be a disadvantage for them. You can definitely see how they were not shooting sometime in map 1. Not undermining GE, they did really good. But damwon had a massive bruh moment the entire map 1.
It felt more of a GE being better than damwon throwing in most of the rounds. GE's playing as 5 cogs of a single machine, they way they used breach was beautiful (and maybe even saved them a lot of rounds after the new aftershock changes, by killing the kj ult). The 1v3 vs hellranger on split was something they should not have lost in any situation. Another one was the frenzy clutch on Ascent vs an ares and a stinger(?).
Using KJ ult to entry is practically impossible on any site because of the aftershock. The fireball will destroy a B main ult as well. Even though they didn't go against Breach, GE were using Lockdown to stall the retake instead, which I found a bit interesting.
Maybe DK thought the Breach wasn't on A, so they could get away by ulting A? I don't know really. What I do know is that the Breach aftershock changes were significantly more impactful than what it looks like, the aftershock was used to clear KJ's B main setup on Ascent as well.
