The game has mixed reviews on steam, compared to overwhelming positive for csgo. The player numbers are actually down compared to csgo, and the community sentiment is generally disappointment. Why did Valve fail?
CSGO was fucking dogshit when it released. Hell, even Karrigan thought it was shit.
Yet the same sentiment he shared about CSGO then is what pros share now about CS2: not a big fan, but want to give it a try.
CSGO at launch was WAY worse than CS2 at launch.
Yes, the CSGO launch was embarrassing, the CS2 launch is also embarrassing. I don't get what this proves, sure it'll probably be better in a year. Why release it and have it completely replace CSGO now then? Make this an open beta and wait until it's actually ready for launch. They were adding maps like 2 weeks before launch, that is fucking insane lmao. It's not ready.
Even cs pros don’t like cs2: https://x.com/perfectocsgo/status/1711773434353418429?s=20

Valve really dropped the ball
The release was definitely rushed.
Game is playable but not polished.
Pros aren't always right though..

So many old school 1.6 players hated GO.
