Chinese scene

Looks promising right now.

A lot of teams importing good players, vici/stew etc.., which is helping the scene to quickly improve.
A wide range of imports from different regions, occupying many different roles in teams.

The evolution series actually having some importance to it is making teams try their best.
Although this may cause an issue down the line if the promoted team has 2 imports.

It will be very interesting to see what the Chinese Scene looks like after the franchising teams are announced.
When the dust settles, this could create a competitive tier 2 league depending on how interested orgs are.

Also if you want to watch some vods, I recommended "CommentatorAlan" (it is mandarin though)

Player quality is something that just takes time.
I don't think the individual level of the players is that bad.
My main gripe with some of the gameplay is the lack of discipline/structure and coordination

Some of the imports is helping to raise that level.
yoman (RA IGL) as an example

Dang I didn't realize he was playing either, I knew he was going there just not what team. Doubt they ascend tho? Idk. Vo0kashu is insane tho, he's borderline VCT if not even fully

A lot of the ascension stuff will come down to which orgs get franchised.

10 partner teams:
Majority of the top teams are likely to get in: EDG/BLG/FPX/WEIBO and a few others NIP/TOP/IG/JDG
a few teams are rumoured like RA/OMG.

But that does leave some strong teams like tyloo.

Current circuit points for ascension: https://liquipedia.net/valorant/China_Evolution_Series/2023/Circuit_Points
So Vo0kashu's team is doing pretty well so far.

I think one key thing is they managed to get org to invest is what really stood out for me on their CNVAL plans

like: NiP? 4AM? AG? Lots of LPL & KPL teams?
sure the player quality is still far behind but that's what you expect when orgs cant even put full investment before approval because the govt ready to yeet you to hell for doing that (like what they did with PUBG for few months)

we see that being what both CrossFire and Perfect World's CS trying to get for the Mainland for so many years but it didnt really go explosive.

CF stuck themself with only 10 orgs in a franchise and pulled worse than overwatch moves by having no T2. While CS werent moving much with PPL (and the fact that to this day, Perfect World still doesnt have a True National Chinese league as PPL is All-Asian)

This VCT CN and EVO thing comes in to fill the void where

  • One game has no Actual Tier 2
  • The other has no Actual National League

This also tops with anything riot will sold well in CN (considering the even unsuccessful Wild Rift still nets 50M+ players monthly over there)

It cause so much effect CrossFire went on panic mode by suddenly announcing a rework of their whole franchising the next year tells a lot, when they refused to do it for so many years just because there's no one else to compete with them not even CS on the national esports scene

Thanks for the insight.
Crossfire isn't something I follow but I am aware of it's importance in the Chinese Esports Scene.

It's very promising that CF are "panicking" due to what Valorant is trying to do, it shows that they believe CN VAL is a serious competitor.
