Why are people so offended by it? Its not the official name yet, its just a poor way leo communicated what he wanted to say. You do realise other games dont have their CGO s and shit out there on twitter communicating with the fans and players about the game. he is trying to clarify and you just keep flaming him. And even the screenshot that's spreading of Bodork, that itself had all the information people needed. he said t2 is going to see an overhaul and the news will start coming next month. ("Stay tuned for updates on how we’re evolving VAL tier 2 next season.")
but people just want to be dumb and complain.

people wanted him to talk about tier 2, he talks about it and then the community goes on to flame him for using the term "guest"
like at the end of the day, the teams indeed are "guests". you will have to leave after 2 years, no other choice.

PS: The concerns raised today are warranted, but throwing someone under the bus to try and prove a point really isn't it, especially when we still don't have the full picture and when that someone has been transparently sharing their POV with us regularly.

the term "guest slot" is more suitable for teams like DFM, KC, RRQ when they literally got invited to franchise without even winning anything while ascension winners like BLEED, The GUARD and Gentle Mates won their regional tournaments

You may not like it, but the idea of franchising is that teams with financial stability and clout get in. Because of this however, I can soooooo see riot replacing some other org for bleed just due to how much money they have. The franchising system is due to a normal league system being unstable as if too many financially unstable teams get into tier 1, tier1 could just implode as esports isn't as lucrative as a sport like football that will stand many years after valorant dies. They have tried to make things more competitive by adding ascension so teams can be in tier 1 for 2 years, this is so tier 1 doesn't just become washed

the teams in partnership were never chosen on the basis of roster, they were chosen on the basis of their financial stability, previous track record, and the clout they bring.

dfm and kc having bad rosters doesnt make them a "guest team", tgrd remain the guest team who'll eventually have to move on

remember riot chose orgs, not rosters.

I always see people complaining even with the break but I don't understad why people are mad at the riot schelduling as even though there is a 4 month break for champ teams and a 5 month break for most teams they this just makes sense in terms of the org not losing a bunch of money. players also get a very decent amount of money from the champions bundle.

Managing multi-region tier 2 is difficult. NA (USA and Canada) only 2 countries, while EMEA and SEA have to deal with multiple different countries + visa issues. If guests team staying forever every year across all regions, too many teams gets added, increase further scheduling issues. 10-12 teams in a league is good, why have 20+

coz this aint 2024 AMERICAS league playoffs match where the casters are saying its a match between "the partnered team sentinels vs the guest team the guard", it was just his way of calling the ascension winning team, you dont have to take what he called the team so much seriously. you asked him questions about changes in tier 2, he said they will happen and be announced by next month. no need to emphasize so much on one single word and then go on to call him "incapable", "not PR trained", " who made him the face of riot valorant" etc etc, he is right their taking accountability . just appreciate that

well that was something leo himself said, he was once invited to platchat or the podcast with sean sliggy steel etc, where he said thats one unfortunate thing about the format, but there isnt a more clear more stable way of doing things. it could also be that an org who didnt pay their team , or have some shady background, unreliable money source, if they win and become partnered then its just more uncertainty for riot to handle.

and besides my point was being called a "guest" team aint that big of a deal.
