For me it is just all the best teams in the world coming together to compete for a trophy.
Everything else doesnt really matter.
So to me Lockin was indeed a major.
if riot hosted red bull home ground you would call it a major
the difference between 5th place prize at champs and lock\in winner is smaller than difference between lock\in winner and red bull winner
no double elim
no qualifiers
smallest international lan prizepool
only 5 competitve teams and multiple teams with visa issues and teams that admitted to not caring
I speak for all when i say lock\in was not a major but a glorified tarik x ludwig invitational pro max
"Max 5 teams that tried to win lockin" < "7 Franchised teams at Homegrounds!!!!! "
You just make shit up as you please. The 5 teams wanting to win is utter nonsense. Laughable really. Your reasoning is equivalent to that of covid deniers and flat earthers.
Just keep pulling made up shit out of your ass to suit the narratives your feefees want to believe in so strongly
But who are you, the impious?
No child of the Lord has ever heard of a poor wretch whose paganism has earned him his affliction and whose temporality is not recorded in the Holy Scriptures.
Does your disruptive pamphlet on the good morals instituted by our Lord Christ, concerning lust, fornication and concupiscence, devote itself to perverting our ascetic brethren into the deviation of the paracletetic light?
Providentially, your paganist rantings of incontinent fornication do nothing to enslave the will and dedication to the impenetrable ways and abstinence of our brother ascetics.
We, the faithful, were dogmatically obliged to forgive you your sins and enjoin you to wander the land that received your own seed from your own hand, and to make no further attempt to dislocate the Christian covenant.
May you regain divine graces, forgiveness and joy over your spiritual state in spite of this.
if everything is a major then nothing is.
In CSGO, where you're stealing the term from, a Major is literally the biggest tournament and achievement you can get out of all tournaments.
In Valorant, Lock In was a PR stunt. Masters are filler events, and Champions are pretty much the only thing that matters.
If saying major is wrong due to it being different in Csgo then maybe we just need to use another word in Valorant.
But "international trophy" doesnt sound as good as the term "major" I suppose.
I dont see enough of a competetive distinction between Masters and Champs to seperate them like you. Is adding 4 lower seeded teams really such a big deal?
I think no.
Thats is true. But i think an umbrella term is necessary to describe both in one. There is not enough of a competetive difference between champs and masters to put them on completely other tiers.
You essentially just add 4 lower seeds imo.
So the ugly&long term "international trophies" Will have to do the Job
I agree.
It doesn't feel like Champions is as standout or prestigious as a csgo major or a LoL worlds.
It's hard to improve the champions allure without reducing the interest of masters significantly.
I guess something simple like some ingame memorabilia for the champs winner could help?
Or some slight change in format / expansion of the event.
Masters/Champions. Lock-In should've been a Majors but its like half and half, no teams were prepared and shit was way too quick tournament so it kinda sucks. But yea in terms of top international teams coming together to play, its a major tournament. But the value of it isn't big enough to be considered a Major imo.
