why are people calling this a fake tournament win
fnatic's run at lock in was literally harder than the run at tokyo. At tokyo they only had to play 4 matches since they were in playoffs automatically. Plus they had the double elimination if they were to lose a game. Lock in they had to win every single match (5 of them compared to Tokyo's 4).
People call it a 'fake tourney' because not only was it single elimination, but a lot of teams were too fresh and haven't really tried any comps yet. It was a free for all basically with no real discipline other than fundamentals. A game like valorant is really reliant on strategy and Lock//In didn't have that to the same degree as 2022's events.
Though, people denying FNC are fools. They are the real deal by all means. The tournament being a little less competitive? Understandable, but it doesn't take anything away from FNC.
I still remember the article written by some EU writer who hates NA after FNC master's tokyo win, which will go down as infamy. I dont think I will respect that guy or people like him ever. FNC LOCKIN// win was impressive but when he put the title as "FNC win two valorant majors in a row for the first time", he became similar to george geddes with sensationalist headlines & sold his soul there imo.
