EMEA should have more franchised teams and slots

Im pretty sure with more slots and teams they will be insane. Giving Americas 4 slots and all the franchised teams that they have and China 3 slots (that is literally stupid lmao) is insane. Valorant should have had orgs like mouz, OG, LDN UTD, Heroic, Optic, Imperial, hell even Astralis ETC already handed franchising slots. Instead the slots were given to BBL, KC, KOI, 100T, GE (LMFAOOOO), DFM ETC. ATP it just feels like only NA orgs get what they want and not other region orgs. These orgs are simply not as big as the ones mentioned above were/are. Even Falcons deserve a franchising spot because of how clouted the org has become.

bbl, kc and koi have way more clout than falcons.

Franchising attempted to cover all the major valorant markets across the globe.
Emea was done pretty well, there was some missed market but alot of them are not bigger enough/influential to be worthy of a slot.

Added an edit there. Also more dispersed talent makes for more teams trying to develop their own talents.

Countries like Germany were given no franchising teams. Even if they shit the bed in tournaments atleast they would have representation. BIG left valorant (asfaik) due to this shit too.

orgs are meant to be diverse, if you have 7 berlin based orgs and 3 london based orgs there would be about 0 fan interest regionally, people from turkey are still gonna support a turkish org with turkish players in T2 rather then a T1 org with no relations

bro there would be no esports if there are no fans to watch, if there are teams from just one region, there is a high chance viewership would drop. as you mentioned GE, why would the casual indian audience watch valorant T1 esports if there's no team they can relate to, there are only a small percentage of fans in any region that have been watching valo esports from early times, only they will watch the teams they like. this is just an example of one region, there are several more regions like these, there are diverse teams so that the game would attract new audience who can have a team to support just because its from their region without knowing the players and all

People dont care where teams are based. They just care about the nationality of players. Riot literally cares about viewership and money instead of the actual scene itself.

do you think a london based org would pick up turkish players? most likely not, the reason franchising is ran so well by riot is because of the no import rules, most orgs keep a roster that is from a certain region, ie french speaking. In OW they did none of this and as an example london spitfire was 5 koreans, which people didn’t wanna watch their london based franchise with 0 players from the region. Franchising will die if you do that

It wont die. The esport with what riot has been doing will die thats for sure. The 5 koreans were watched by the Korean fans instead weren't they? You lose one community but you gain the other. Look at CSGO, International rosters are loved and prefered solely due to the fact that there are multiple nationalities playing in their lineups and everyone tunes in to support their region's players. Even NaVi in CSGO, always a CIS region squad has gone international now. (according to rumors)

where an org is based will influence the nationalities of players they pick up
ex: kc (french org) picks up an all french-speaking roster

plus, many orgs retained at least 2-3 players from their previous roster, which will inherently influence the major nationality of that team's roster

ofc there are exceptions, but most of the time this is how it goes

yeah, idk people seem to think if these huge orgs got relegated/ never made franchising it would somehow help the game at the current state. We would have 0 diversity in the game if riot hadn’t already figured out how franchising worked with league we would be sitting here watching fnatic be on bleed getting paid each 1 mill.

I've seen multiple countries like Bangladesh Pakistan Sri Lanka (South asian countries) supporting GE, and their watch parties pull some good amount of viewers. I don't think it was a bad idea to include them in "partnership". At the end, clout matters

sadly franchising was never about how big the orgs were in general, rather their relationship with riot and their standings with riot in LCS too, hence why optic didn’t get a spot. im down for every region to get a couple more spots tbh.
