Shortly after Valorant Champions 2022 came to a close, reports surfaced from Dot Esports forecasting the additions of yay, zellsis, and mCe to round out the C9 core of Anthony "vanity" Malaspina, Erick "Xeppaa" Bach, and Nathan "leaf" Orf.
yay joins C9 after a successful year with OpTic, where he and the now-former Green Wall rose to the top of North America, qualifying for every international event in the 2022 VCT competition year, and were even crowned the Stage 1 Masters: Reykjavik champions. OpTic made a deep run at Valorant Champions, only falling to

Recently, the team officially bid farewell to Rahul "curry" Nemani. C9 also said goodbye to Mitch "mitch" Semago, the final member of the organization's original Valorant squad, at the beginning of the month.
The 2023 competition year for the VCT will kick off on February 13 with the Champions Tour 2023 Kickoff Tournament in São Paulo, Brazil, and will feature all 30 partnered teams from the three major regions.
