I guess it depends on many things, so hard to just pick one. I would say that overall its better to be nice and liar I think. Its safer option at least.

I have known people who are pretty honest and even rude without thinking and its not that fun to be around those type of people tbh. But again some might prefer that type of people.

obviously the idealistic case is to be honest and nice

but for the sake of answering your question, i think 90% of times is just better to be nice and a liar

it depends on the other person's personality, there are some people that just don't accept any criticism, in that case lying is the best option

i personally think being honest and rude is better. since once you find out your friend has been lying about being nice towards you, and they think of you differently and not so kindly, it’d be better to not get attached to them, and have them be honest so you know they don’t like you

it takes more effort to be rude than it does to be nice imo
