I'm a layman about the EMEA community, is the Spanish community much better than others to have 3 teams in the franchise?
I found it a bit exaggerated...
First of all that's a bit too much, but yeah y'all have the biggest player base, but if you knew a little bit about how this works you would realize that has nothing to do if you don't have any good orgs to back it up. You have to understand Futbolist or the rest of Turkish orgs other than BBL are just smaller
Ofc they're better but it's not the same. Turkish orgs are gonna sign Turkish players even if that means being at the bottom of the leaderboard, Spanish orgs might be biased towards Spanish players? Yeah ofc, every one of them is gonna try to at least have 1 Spanish player, but is not gonna be nothing crazy for sure, not players that are actually bad, and the rest is just gonna be make the best roster possible with the EMEA talent, have some big bucks to afford it
1 CIS team (Na'Vi), no team from East region (which doesn't surprise me much, we don't really have any capable orgs here besides maybe AGO who are not interested in Valorant anyway and Entropiq in Czechia and that's pretty much all that I could think of), NO org from DACH which is just wtf and 3 orgs from Spain
idk, Rito does some weird things here
tbh if it was BIG instead of Giants and something from Scandinavia (Heroic/Alliance) it'd be perfect*
*obviously I'd love for there to be an org from Central-East Europe, but there's just no realistic prospects here anyway. If Team Kinguin didn't die over the years they could be one but unfortunately they're pretty much dead after rebranding to DV1
Are you talking about players? No, we don't have the best talent nil
Are you talking about community and numbers? Yes, biggest Region in EU with the most investments by orgs.
Explanation of why every org has been picked up:
KOI, just joined LEC, has big bucks and is just absolutely , massive they pull over 100K every time they play in VRL of LOL, and they do the same in Valorant when they costreamed which being in franchising is gonna become more often
Heretics: Again, org has money, has been here since the start of Valorant, just bought a LEC spot for 50 million and they again, have some insane numbers, owner has second twitch total spectators record with 2.1 Million viewers just behind KOI's owner with 3M
Giants: Probably the hardest one to justify, but again, been here since the start, really well stablished, popular org (Just not as massive as the other two), got some money and I guess Riot liked their project and tbf the only other org that could competed with them is BIG, which would have been the most reasonable and what I thought would happen, still the decision really makes sense from a business point of view even tho it sucks for germans I'm sorry
Also this kinda reinforces the idea that RIOT has plans to move to Barcelona after the league gets established
Hope this is objective enough and I'm not being biased
I mean koi and heretics makes sense, big fanbases lots of momentum behind them.
Koi very similar to karmine in a way.
I mean how many of the giants fans wouldnt watch koi/heretics games? the % is probably quite low.
I think if it means 1 of big/g2 dont get into franchising in any capacity its a bad move.
if g2 makes americas then its fine
That's what I'm starting to think, it's either G2 America or Riot is considering g2 as German instead of just European in general. I just don't see why else they would leave BIG out knowing the league is in Berlin. Still again, Giants it's pretty big but you're right, most fans were gonna watch anyway, unlike HERETICS and KOI who actually bring a lot of their own fans from other games. Giants fans are more esports fans, other two are more content fans
