idk if it was leafyishere who started it but whoever started the commentary genre, which caused tons of drama and cancellations and created an entire new genre of youtubers
edit: thought you were talking about influential to the platform not the world as a whole lol

LTT was actually life changing for me
I was originally going into arts but Linus got me interested in tech and that's how my journey of computer science started

idk how you are putting KSI at second compared to people like Pewdiepie or Mr. Beast on youtube strictly.

Mr beast isnt even close to the influence KSI had, he throws money around
other people cant really do that
pewdiepie can move around in the list not sure where

I think KSI is big, but his success on youtube vs Mr. Beast's success on youtube isn't comparable imo.

not a fucking popularity list, influence list
speed shows little kids how to act gay while all these other people on the list actually did something influential to change youtube

Nigahiga in his prime was the jam.
Ever since the RHPC went and COVID came YouTube became a worse place.
Back in the days, Smosh and Nigahiga dominated with genuinely Goated content

pewdiepie is definitely number 1 for influence.
not all his influence is good but he was the leading figure in alot of the early content styles.

NigaHiga along with Smosh are the real OGs.

You might add MKBHD and Unbox Therapy for the tech genre, these guys literally shaped the tech vids that we see today. LTT is unique in the way that barely anyone copies his style while there many many smaller MKBHDs and Unbox Therapy style channels out there.

SuperWoman or Lily Singh was also one of the most influential for the female side of youtube. Barely had any other female YouTubers before her. Sad that she wanted to escape the YT bubble and go mainstream so badly that it almost ruined her career.

I could name a bunch more but a lot of them have regional influence but some others might be VSauce in the infotainment genre.

Also, KSI is deffo not the #2.

DanTDM, totally agree with, dude used to be one of the biggest channels out there, he along with other creators like Stampy were like childhood to many. I believe most of us grew out of that age though. These channels are dead at this point. Stampy had 10 mill subs since many years and he still has 10.6M. His vids have gone down from 10M per video to barely reaching 100K.

Edit: ERB used to be a thing but if was more polished content and I never got the Youtuber vibe from the channel.
