i’ve read from margin to center by hooks, she has some interesting takes that i enjoy but i have gripes with the whole subgenre of feminist lit. feels almost akin to religious discourse where everyone is so engrossed in their own specific sect that they’re writing to argue against other influences. bit difficult to digest as an outsider looking in. but i guess that’s the natural order when it comes to philosophy of any kind
and yep, while i think the mundane has become somewhat of an overused accessory of contemporary literature, it’s always been beautifully explored by japanese writers. something about the historical and cultural context gives me a more genuine feeling i dunno what that spark is
