instead of adding another rank

riot should just que people up based on time spent in the server

the rank system holds people back as smurfs ruin the bottom ranks + new players don’t hold their weight

there’s 1000’s of plat players stuck in rank bc they don’t have the chance to play with better players

the rank system is basically systemic oppression of long time players who don’t have e-friends to duo que and have control of the users they are teamed up with.

it must end now for the integrity of the game

? The ranking system seperates good and bad players. It creates a culture and creates something players to strive for, a higher rank. U are probs one of the plats that believe you should be higher, also smurfing gives you the chance to play against better players and if you cant play aganist people smurfing and half assing then what makes you think you can play aganist better players?

smurfing point is valid if your teammates are capable of playing on that level but it’s not always the case if a new player got lucky and boosted into higher level by duo queuing

you should be qued with people with similar time on the game and the chance to play all users to get the chance to shine in a high ranking type player environment

there are plenty of controller type players who would flourish with competent players around them.

That is somewhat fair, I do think though for a lower player that doesnt play the game too much and just wants to have fun is probably not caring too much about how well they play doesn't want to queue with imm level players if they have a lot of game time.

Sorry to burst your bubble but no plats-low diamonds can hold their ground in immo3. Maybe immo 1 because a lot of boosted and sold accounts are in there but not immo3. Maybe if they play passive and have other immortals in their team but still, just aim-wise they will get destroyed. Unless you plan on playing ratty lineup sitting in the back smoke player or some pocket sage to your immortal friend there is no way you can hold against immo3 (top 0.2% players) if you are plat.

no plat 3 players could hold their own weight in a proper immortal 3 lobby. It would be like bronze players against platinum/diamond players.

Being immortal 1 is nothing to brag about. Also, practically anyone who has spent a decent amount of time in the game is plat.

People who literally started off in iron when they started valorant are now platinum by just improving their aim/gamesense to a normal standard.

If it is based on time spent and smurfs will always play more on their main and barely grind on their alt accounts, wouldn't it make new players trying ranked for the first time always go against smurfs?

You can look up valorant rank distribution graph for June 2022 and see that riot almost balanced it. The only problem is the gap between Diamond 3- Immortal 1 compared to Immortal1-Immortal 2. Hence why they are adding the new Ascendant rank to smooth the curve.

I am immortal 2 and I started to smurf to play with my friends(gold 3), it's not my fault that I grinded more so now I can't play with them . I want to spend time with my friends and smurfing is the only way. Riot really fixed the smurfing problem tho. By the end of my qualification matches, I was gold 3 and we started playing against diamonds after 5 games.

In lower ranks, you will barely get a smurf since the level 20 grind already evaluates you as a smurf and matches you with gold/plat on your first qualification game. If you are plat/diamond and get an immortal smurf once every 5 games, it just shows you that there is still much to improve on.

Don't think smurfs hold you back, you are.

Rank does not have a "progression" problem. It actually separates shooting skill very well.

Ranked has massive issue in "strategic engagement". Under diamond rank there is a tiny tiny percentage of players willing to talk and try some tactical approach to the game. The game feels like a DM.

In my opinion a lot of the issues are not really issues in Riot's eyes, but features.

They foster addiction and harness frustration to channel it into obsession. To explain myself better: I believe that the kind of personality that does not quit in front of these issues, like lack of progression or excessive individuality, gets more obsessed the more frustrated it grows. In a way they force tunnel vision, people start dreaming in Valorant, and of course, the very useless skins become justified to pay for. What else are they going to do with money, at that point?

Sure it puts off a lot of us and makes us play less and less, but its not like I was ever gonna spend more than 20 bucks.
