ok to preface this, this aint ever gonna happen, unless maybe we get something as big as a 'valorant 2' but even then it wont happen
just for this thread entertain that it could happen

would removing one ability from each agent improve the game, or make it worse? what do you think

I lowkey agree with the pros / high elo players who're saying that at it's just too much at this point, maybe this could be a way to improve on that

Are you saying like without ults or like one of the base abilities?

i think ults are fine, i mean one base ability, with preference to removing stuns/mollies/flashes/vulnerables (whilst not completely eliminating them, but certainly reducing them)

  1. that would ruin the game, obliterate balance and obliterate the playstyle of pretty much every character in the game. a massive portion of the playerbase would stop playing (me included) because their favorite character got gutted.
  2. pros are right to complain about the util problems, but that is a result of Tejo + the skill level increasing over time.
  3. there are numerous other ways to tone down util without gutting every agent in the game.

Is the amount of abilities each character has really the problem? I feel as if rarely do we see an individual character using multiple abilities to cause problems. It's usually a combination of two characters. I think that some characters like tejo and breach just do too much. Like tejo can cover a lot of ground with his missiles and ultimate, same with breach and his stun, incendiary and ultimate

Less abilities per character just means less "valorant" throughout the round and more gunfights

As a thought experiment, just think of what you would remove from each agent. If you do, you'll see that it would drastically alter the balance of the game in an unfixable way.

As for the "util problem" that a lot of pros have been complaining about, it's not really something that the average player has to worry about. Low elo players don't even know how to use util, and even high elo players don't really have the cohesion to use it in combination which is when it really becomes a problem. Yes, once in a while you get triple flashed deadlock net naded, but really isn't as much of a problem as the playerbase makes it out to be.

And if you want to fix the issue, you would either have to make util even more expensive (try double) (on a true bonus you might have to choose between full util and rifle) or make it less common (remove rechargeables). While both of these ideas would make util a lot more valuable (you can't just recon and then get it back for the site retake), it would really ruin the unique part of valorant for the average ranked player.

The best way to do this imo opinion is massively raise the cost of abilities. So you have to pick b3tween abilities or the best guns and armor
