honestly to me saying one team "deserved to win" is the dumbest most braindead thing i've ever heard, if they deserved to win they would have won smh
this doesn't go just for T1/G2 but all matches
afreespirit [#2]i agree but prx deserved to win champs 2023
champs 2023 finals was one of the most dominant finals they didnt deserve to win shit
I think it's more about whether a certain player carried to convert a couple crucial rounds that a team needed to clinch a win. For example, derke with vitality in a lot of their matches was simply brute forcing his way through teams to win games. There wasn't much strategy going on because there was no need for it, since derke go kill seemed to work so well. That's probably why they got absolutely humbled in the playoffs at Bangkok, but the cracks were showing right from the kickoff finals, when vitality lost 2 maps to TL when they clearly have much better fraggers on the team. Also, some teams play so badly that it's almost unbelievable to fathom how they won despite playing poorly or while throwing rounds. Valorant has some degree of luck too, and when everything goes wrong for a team that might be playing good valorant, it might feel like they deserved to win more than their opponents. For example, let's say a team gets super unlucky with 3 or 4 clutch rounds on a map, but they are trading each other well and looking for good first picks. Those crucial rounds lost make all the effort for nothing because a map is decided through those rounds that were a toss up between you and the opponent, unless you show absolute dominance from the outset. This is some of the examples of what could be meant by a team deserving to win.

yeah but those clutch moments are what defines a team, what makes one team better than the other is the ability to step up individually and make plays, the ability to shift the momentum of the match

I wasn’t watching back then, but from what I’ve heard is that the Gambit players had no sleep due to riot scheduling, and bad timing with Covid tests
If someone can explain better that’s great, that’s just what I got from googling it

its not when them plays specifically are for the most part luck. you can step up but if its not your day and the dice rolls wrong then... you miss out.

hmm not really. #24 puts it perfectly; a clutch has a huge luck factor. after all, luck is when your skill meets with opportunity. yes you need to be a very good player to clutch at the pro level, but your opponents only have to make one mistake. or they dont even have to make any mistakes at all to lose a clutch to the enemy team. especially if its like a 1v1 or 1v2 clutch. those really come down to who has a better positioning to win the round once it comes down to it. that does revolve around luck somewhat, because your skill never led you to be in the position you are in a 1v1, it was just that you happened to be in that advantageous position. or your teammates got sprayed through a smoke leaving you in a clutch situation in a bad spot, or you got wallbanged down so you were low for a clutch situation. there are countless scenarios where you can simply get "unlucky" in the clutch, when the odds are stacked completely against you for whatever reason, either in a 1v1 or a 1vX scenario.
