Some teams in some way get to hire their friends or “connections” in some ways right. Does Chinese culture ever get into those stuff or do they have like a if you’re not the best at something get outta here mentality or something

I think in east Asia eSports is more generally considered as a job and so they will be more harsh when they underperform

Is simon a nepo pick? Or are they nepo towards nobody (because he’s like one of their least performing sometimes but they still keeping him maybe?)

This was what I was hearing about a lot during the initial evolution series, player playing for stats so they can secure a contract rather than for wins since kills is all some people look at.

Yeah I know about the thing with the wings team. Also even in other eSports that I follow many Chinese orgs are very dumb.

I’m not but they kicked their igl haodong for him before no? Awhile ago the caster said nobody made a weird decision in game but says “but at least he’s a world champion”

Pretty sure simon was a friend of a friend so he made it to their trials and they were pretty happy with him

Eh, that's because Dota 2 doesn't have that much new chinese players, they have less players than Latam for example

I don't think he was just a nepo pick, it takes a lot to replace your IGL (Haodong) for a friend of theirs. S1mon is only weak statswise, sure but his role isn't to frag, and if you take a look at his assists, it's quite insane how much support impacts he has regardless of his numbers. S1mon was only in EDG for basically almost no time in 2024, and he won champs on his 2-3 month as a rookie, not to mention he can even clutch out rounds at times. S1mon is definitely necessary for this team to succeed so far.

Nah not really s1mon was meant to balance out edg roster they had agent issues. Need a really supportive player. He got more confident though and been really great too.

Seems so, they tryout wooday1 and Simon at the same time and it turns out Simon can fit in better.

Interesting, but I guess that's just how it is in CN valorant, they probably have the most prospects/talents out of any region, so they really need to filter em out with brutal tryouts
