I have seen a decent number of people complaining about franchising because they prefer open circuit, but how is open circuit better? we have now seen 4/6 (i cant comment on china) of the ascended teams be mid to ass

surely having the old system would just mean there are more ass teams, and the best talent would be on teams with shit players (think XSET with Cryo and Zekken on the same team as ayrin and dephh)

but how is open circuit better?

raises the level of competition, no more teams like KOI, MIBR getting free money from riot while doing absolutely nothing. and helps develop tier 2 a lot more since they arent restricted to play vs tier 1 in scrims/off season only

koi is valid but mibr just bought out a top tier duelist, they are at least trying to win even if they dont look amazing just yet.

Also the level of play is going up year by year regardless, teams now are way better than ever

Wasn’t watching before franchising so I can’t speak on this, but what I can say is that XLG, DRG, NS, G2, and M8 aren’t the worst rn (boom even got a map off T1 but cuz we’ve only seen 1 game all give you them)

M8 were mid last year, BLD was shit, 2G are shit, apeks are shit. Im just saying having a wider team pool isnt necessarily better

only thing I hate about the franchising system is that its always gonna be the ascension teams who have the pressure to perform well. Put every team on relegation threat at least, it'll also make stage 2 more interesting to watch seeing teams trying to survive relegation, instead we just knew which teams were gonna qualify, and only had like 2-4 teams who's matches really mattered entire stage 2.
