let's say if
and if
it's a really big if i know
mongolz wins the shanghai major and makes history
does that inspire asia as a region to come back to cs/start playing or at least try out cs in the region in terms of both casual/competitive community or because the region itself is still way too left out and dead enough to not reinvigorate anything?
and if mongolz makes it to playoffs/semifinal/grand final, would that make asians from other esports communities tune in to watch mongolz? like valoranters
or they just don't care enough?

I think it'll be tough
Just how CS is ahead in Europe I think Val is ahead in Asia (in PC FPS)

yeah, i dont think theres enough audience or sponsors in asia for us to have more events in asia to help the development, however much motivation there is for the players

Maybe a small resurgence but I doubt CS will ever take the #1 tac FPS spot from VAL in Asia ever again. Supposedly the 2025 Austin major will be 32 spots so maybe 6 Asian teams too which will help more

yeah i never really talked about taking over valorant or anything
just maybe if we could get at least more players than we currently have right now you know
i truly believe that valorant will obviously never get contested in the region of asia as the most popular first person shooter until the world ends

I think it inspires China first and foremost (our neighbours won the biggest chip in that game, we can do that as well). The real W i see with mongolz winning is the fact that more asian teams will travel to europe to train and practice, just like the mongolz did. They are practically the pathfinder for the scene, they say "success can be found, but one must grind for it"

that would happen, maybe we will have more event, but even those the increase won't be too big

I'm lowkey just tryna see if we could get at least some southeast asian talents yk
people won't agree with me but i think indonesian f0rsaken had the potential to be a top tier csgo talent in asia if he didn't switch

I mean Brazil was kinda the same, it took Luminosity to take majors back to back and then LATAM just collectively went "we can do damage here". Now a team of young guns beats reigning major winners, a core of experienced players beats spirit and takes vitality to OT and pain have been quite consistent this year overall

probably not its still risky

chinese players wont come back because they have 12 tier 1 teams to choose from in val

and other asian teams have never really been big in cs (counting central asia as cis)

no, cause CS is western game.
CS Shanghai Major:

  • EU 14
  • American 7
  • APAC 3 (1CN, 1 Mongolia, 1 AU)

Western Teams 21 = 87.5%
Eastern teams 3 = 12.5%

APAC RMR has Russian teams for East Asia and East European teams for Middle East Qualifier.
Where JP? where KR? where SEA? Why bother.

Only way Cs grows more in Asia is if somehow china Cs scene can grow rapidly for which a cn team needs to make big splashes in eSports and if crossfire gets banned in china which will help both val and Cs scene.

apac gained one more slot in Copenhagen this year already (before that it was 2 only) and now mongolz can secure asia it's first playoffs and a slot which allows the number 1 asian seed to skip the opening stage and go directly to legends stage.
Europe will drop down to 12-13 slots I believe, America will grow one or two, asia will stay put but gain the legends slot (if mongolz make it), Europe lost 4 slots in 1.5 years, if anything it's a sign that the game is growing in america and asia as well, and with the major likely expanding to 32 teams, there is a chance it goes 17-11-4 for Austin Major in 2025

sk is too big in val rn and xign just started military service rn so rip

AE's mix might get further if they manage to pick up better pieces, altho i can't really find it in my head to find a better asian player than xign that isn't chinese or mongolian (altho maybe a mongolian player is ok, we had sk0r in nkt and stuff) to add into the mix, i kinda hope they can pick up marsyy but i dont know if he can keep up his performances

Neither CS nor Val are still as big as Crossfire in Asia, which is an old counter strike clone

Val isn’t even #1 in asia. Crossfire is miles and miles ahead still, old cs clone

I thought crossfire was huge more so in CN and not really in the rest of Asia?
I could be absolutely wrong though I really have no idea

Huge is an understatement, its the game with the most downloaded copies of any game in history

Not sure how it fares outside of CN, but the numbers are beyond insanity

EDIT: why am i being downvoted? I don’t even play the game but the numbers can easily be googled. Game has had over 1bn registered users and made nearly $7bn

Which has the biggest amount of people pretty much tied with india and therefore the 1st or 2nd largest addressable market on the world

So yes you can’t say “biggest in asia” without factoring in raw numbers
