Fuck no!!! They just stretched the season with bigger gaps in between to make it run from January to October. Just think about it from a bottom team’s perspective: you play 2 games in the kickoff. Lose those 2 games? Well, now you’re stuck waiting another 2 months to play again, and then you have to wait until Masters Bangkok is over and Split 1 finally starts—about 2 months of downtime. They’ve split the teams into 2 groups, each with 6 teams, so each team only gets 5 games in Split 1. And let’s say your team doesn’t qualify for the playoffs—then you’re just sitting there for another 2-3 months with absolutely nothing to do after playing only 5 games. Same story in Split 2: you get 5 games, and if you don’t make playoffs again, it’s more waiting. In the end, you’re playing just 12 games in 10 months. It’s crazy how this system is set up to punish teams with downtime instead of giving them chances to play, improve, and stay competitive. SMH…

Exactly what I was thinking, at first I thought it was good but then realized it was gonna be pretty much the same amount of games just stretched out. Now we will wait longer for matches to happen, we will only get a couple extra games during regular season because of the new ascended team but that's it

I agree
I think we should have 2 full round robins in the year instead of this 2 groups of 6 stuff

You'd have to extend the season to mid-late Nov if you want to keep the same amount of downtime

If bottom teams flunk out, their job is to fix themselves. They have plenty of time to do that, testing new rosters/fixing their plays/etc. Nothing wrong with that imo.

they should allow teams that didn't qualify to internationals to play on b-tier tourneys tbh that would fix a lot of things

Aspas brought LEV to 3rd in Champs. Give me an Aspas flair then.

maybe a bit of a crazy suggestion, but maybe riot allows the non-qualified teams to play with the tier 2? Yes, it does turn it into a semi-open franchising model (which pretty much goes against the current franchising), but 10 teams out of each region don't make it to Bangkok, why won't riot make a 16 team event, 10 tier 1 teams, 6 tier 2 teams (after split 3/1 in tier 2, depending on the timing) and decide the remaining 10 slots for stage 1? You can easily run a swiss system with the worst of tier 1 and the best of tier 2 and fiddle out the pretenders

I dont really care to watch the bad teams play as often, at least now they have stuff to play for all year
