hiimnsk [#7]Gambit represented EMEA not EU how are people not understanding this lol
Lmao yea, I don’t think people realize EU stands for European Union and not Europe, people need to go to school. Like if you want to brag just say emea>NA, gambit is not part of eu, it’s a part of emea.

EMEA standing for Europe, Middle East, Africa. I guess Russia is in Africa now lol
Lanss [#12]Lmao yea, I don’t think people realize EU stands for European Union and not Europe, people need to go to school. Like if you want to brag just say emea>NA, gambit is not part of eu, it’s a part of emea.
So that means that UK, serbian, bosnian, norwegian, swiss players don't count? And where do we put them?
Aperture [#13]
- EU does stand for European Union but in the context of esports it has always been an abreviation for Europe.
- Saying Russia is not part of Europe is just wrong, coz they are. Both Europe and Asia. Although majority of the land is in Asia, around 75% of thr population is in Europe.
- The historical heartland of Russia lies in Europe, Russia expanded into Aisa solely due to imperial conquests.
I never said Russia wasn’t part of Europe, and if you want to talk about “context of esports” , you want to tell me why master 1 was split between EU,turkey , and cis? Isn’t it all same ? I wonder why they did that? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

The thing is when people say Eu in eSports, it's basically the Europe Continent/Region and not the European Union because if you are considering EU as the latter then you are already counting out UK from EU.
So imo, it's better to just call it EMEA to avoid confusion but that doesn't denies the fact that 3/4th part of Russia is in European Continent.
hiimnsk [#7]Gambit represented EMEA not EU how are people not understanding this lol
Yeah I don’t get how hard it is to understand that CIS+EU+TR+MENA = EMEA. Saying that CIS is EU because “Russia is in Europe” (which it is btw) is like saying Mexico is NA and not LATAM because it’s geographically in NA. The regions aren’t related to geography.

Mb for thinking you said Russia wasn't in Europe. I must have gotten confused. Also, the main reason they split CIS and TR is because of the large amount of teams not because the countries don't lie in the same geographical region, if that was the case then latam and Br would be in the same qualifiers?? HMMMMMMMMMMMMM. LMAO

EMEA = Europe + MENA (middle east and north africa)
I guess TR and CIS are african regions.
TR and CIS are european sub regions
Here is the simple fix. Look at CSGO. EU is EU and CIS represents Russian/Ukranian and other teams. To talk Esports language just follow what has been done for years now. Gambit is part of EMEA, but a lot of us call it CIS because of the familiarity. Such as Na'Vi in CSGO. For me, just familiarity and nothing more.

Again, it’s not related to geography. TR, CIS and EU are all EMEA subregions. They all happen to come from the “E” part, that’s true. But that means nothing. Here’s another explanation to help https://mobile.twitter.com/Average_Jonas/status/1439674204769722372

Gambit represented CIS and EMEA though not eu?
hekzy [#15]So that means that UK, serbian, bosnian, norwegian, swiss players don't count? And where do we put them?
Well technically yea? UK arent in europe either lol so if an all UK player team was playing in a major theyd be representing EMEA not EU

GMB represented EMEA in Berlin
EMEA stands for Europe, Middle east and Africa
Where would Russia go?? Exactly, Europe.
:)

Thing is Gambit does count as Europe, Gambit can sign up for Europe VCT the same as a team like G2 can sign up for CIS VCT they just chose not to for most likely ping and for easier qualification to Playoffs

Ok I am back from reading the rule book, you actually CANT do that . CIS TURKEY And EU, are split into different region in valorant context, and gambit actually can’t participate in an EU masters since it’s members are from the CIS, and they also can’t transfer their region.

Actually LATAM and BR don´t lie in the same geographical region either. Contrary to misconception, LATAM is NOT just South America, it actually includes Mexico (North America) & the Caribbean as well.

That still doesn't show the reason why they split the regions. Also where in the rule book does it say that, just curious. Anyway, why don't we call it a day and agree to disgaree :)
Aperture [#45]"Geographically and organizationally, Brazil is considered part of Latin America."
I know Brazil is Latin America. But Latin America is more of a denomination to those countries where its language is derived from Latin, not really a geographical representation since Latin America also includes the Caribbean countries which are way across the sea.
What I meant for South America is, for example, the LCQ. LATAM/Brazil LCQ is officially named South America LCQ even though, technically, the LATAM and Brazil regions (as in Valorant servers and shit) includes more than just South America. The way I see it, Riot don't really know their shit

hiimnsk [#7]Gambit represented EMEA not EU how are people not understanding this lol
Gambit does not represent EU but they did play most of their matches against EU teams and are kinda part of the same region.
EMEA = includes EU. Technically they are not EU but CIS. But basically the same thing cuz Riot merged the regions....
honey [#52]LATAM including South America except BR
But no one says BR is LATAM
It means CIS is not EU
no one says that coz they didn't win, I guarantee if a Brazilian team won, all the users from LATAM would count it as a LATAM win.

That's just a play on words and abbreviations. Essentially EMEA = Europe. CS, Dota2, R6 EU = val emea. Same scene different name.
Lanss [#12]Lmao yea, I don’t think people realize EU stands for European Union and not Europe, people need to go to school. Like if you want to brag just say emea>NA, gambit is not part of eu, it’s a part of emea.
Really for somebody EU stands for the Union? LMAO I guess not for Europeans... maybe for dumb guys outside EU that google "EU" and see information about the Union.
UK is not part of Union nowadays yet their players play in EU qualifiers.
When Europeans say EU we mean WHOLE EUROPE we don't care about politics.

Bro no one gives a shit about official stuff, in valorant sense gambit is not part of eu, but anyway this conversation is already done why u still here
yes exactly its related to culture and ukrainians, belarusians and russians are part of European Culture and always been same as other slavic countries.
When Europeans say EU we mean and always meant WHOLE EUROPE we don't care if somebody is from the Union or not because with your logic swiss are not from EU LOL.
It's even funnier for me as a polish slav to be not allowed to call my eastern boys EU XD
kocunar [#3]TL is representing the proud continent of UK
