Overwatch pubg cs they have it all.
China has them too
Japan only has apex as the relevant scene and just a tiny bit of overwatch with Taiyo repping japan. Fortnite is in there too but it's quite new cmiiw, japan can't compare bro 😭

Fr they legit disappear, not to mention this is when pc gaming in japan isn't popular enough yet.

a lot of Obscure Asian-F2P shooters in the Mid 2000s where only just Asia competing, basically around the CrossFire era Korea made so many Shooters in a similar aspect

for example games like Special Force (Soldier Front), SF2 (SKILL), Point Blank (Project Blackout) and also CrossFire (CF is a korean dev game, not chinese) alongside things like movement-based games such as GunZ, S4 League and of course CS-Online. (Special shoutout to A.V.A.)

but to be specific in the Tac FPS area, Korea is all about one single game Sudden Attack released in 2005 and it's just few years ago where VALORANT finally beat them in PC Cafe numbers, the game hangs onto Top 10 all these years

and then of course you have Overwatch as well as the standard CS and PUBG games

That's what happens when you have players like Faker and Flash to look up to

OW and PUBG are mostly dominated by Korea (although in PUBG China and Soniqs are up there too). I don't think they had much CS scene apart from WMF in 1.6

Well the game is dead in EU and brazil
And NA is not real competition in any esport
So they basically are the only ones playing the game

korean valorant is better than chinese valorant? not to my knowledge.
korea dominates overwatch yeah that's a given but they were pretty much irrelevant in counter-strike during csgo era

But as a result they pretty much built the foundation of korean valorant scene in my opinion.

that is true
remember vision strikers were ex mvp pk csgo players that made the transition to valorant after getting shat on by annihilation's d13 and went out of esl road to rio east asia closed qualifiers

Korea being irrelevant in csgo isnt even their fault. Its all valves problem

I'm actually quite under knowledged in that situation, can you elaborate how that happened?

Iirc Essentially pc bang owners in kr hated valve's policy and decided not to put their games there.

This is one of the reasons why dota in kr never took off too.

Cs 1.5 1.6 used to be popular in kr and they were pretty good at it

But valve implemented policies which made pc cafe owners pay for every minute the game was played, so they removed cs from pc cafes

that's so retarded from valve, what the hell?

Valve asked pc bangs in korea to pay money to run csgo and other valve games I think.
