Rankings taken from each team's placements throughout each international event. If a team finishes tied (e.g. 9th-12th), the lowest placing is taken (e.g. 9th). The average is then taken.
In case of champions, 1st bracket indicates lowest guaranteed placing, 2nd bracket indicates second lowest, etc. For the overall year rankings, the lowest guaranteed placing has been taken although taking the highest wouldn't change anything.

Overall Year Rankings (rounded to 2dp.)
1st: Americas (4.88)
2nd: EMEA (6.22)
3rd: Pacific (6.44
4th: China (8.22)

Masters Madrid Ranking
1st: Americas (2.5)
1st: Pacific (2.5)
3rd: EMEA (6)
3rd: China (6)

Masters Shanghai Ranking
1st: EMEA (4.66)
2nd: Americas (5.33)
3rd: Pacific (5.66)
4th: China (9)

Champions Ranking
1st: Americas (5.75 (5.5) (5.25))
2nd: EMEA (7.5 (7.25) (7))
3rd: China (8.75 (8.5))
4th: Pacific (9)

Very interesting post, could you do this for the other years as well to compare the regions over time? Feels like EMEA would be better in 2021 but would love to be actually proven correct or not

As an EMEA fan, Americas is the better region this year. Heretics are the only EMEA team that looks scary in international LANS. Americas had SEN, LEV, and even G2 who are pretty strong teams internationally.

FNC had a super off year. NAVI forgot how to play Valorant. Liquid turned into a T2 team. KC had a fluke run. VIT was literally trexx+Sayf and friends. FUT is mid af.

Hopefully with Leo back next year, and a few roster shuffles, EMEA can produce at least 3 world-class teams (FNC, TH, and one more)

Over the years though, the best region has flip-flopped between Americas and EMEA.

2021: EMEA
2022: Americas
2023: EMEA
2024: Americas

wrong:
2021: EMEA
2022: EMEA = AMERICAS
2023: AMERICAS
2024: EMEA or AMERICAS or EMEA = AMERICAS

all time: EMEA

2022 had Optic winning a Masters and being top 3 in all LANS. LOUD also won Champs. FPX were good and FNC were fine but Optic and LOUD were in a different tier that year.

2023 is really really close but I still value FNC's 1st 1st 4th placing than EG's 2nd 1st even if the 1st is Champs. I can understand if people think Americas were better in 2023 though, because LOUD also had good placements that year.

it was just OPTIC and LOUD show. the rest of AMERICAS was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad

EMEA had like 6-7 good teams though (FPX, FNATIC, TL, GUILD, G2, GAMBIT, ACEND)

also dont forget LOUD fell off in Copenhagen

EMEA was also just FPX and FNC though.

GUILD beat OPTIC

NA excluding OPTIC was tier 2 until XSET won a few games at champs

also remember that FPX couldve won Reykjavik (2 trophies for EMEA) and CIS war nerfed EMEA

Optic ended up 3rd while Guild ended up 7th-8th

As I see it:
OPTC=LOUD=FPX>FNC>XSET=LEV=TL=GLD

GUILD faced FPX and PRX (finalists)

OPTIC got free games against XSET and DRX

GUILD was better at Copenhagen (just unlucky bracket cuz of Riot making ASIA and SA 1st seeds worth less than NA and EMEA 1st seeds - which means the group 1st seeds go against APAC and SA 1st seed, while the groups 2nd seeds go against NA and EMEA 1st seeds (NA 1st seed XSET being shit))

That's just how tournaments work I guess. At the end of the day, it's where you placed in a tournament and not where you could've placed.
