If u all don't know recently just yesterday or today earlier eSports has been approved by the Olympic committee and thus olympics will soon have even eSports but they have a ridiculous stance that they don't want fps games as they show blood which is like showing violence, and thus tho lol will be accepted Valorant won't be , this is genuinely ridiculous ain't it??

Tell ur opinions

I'm gonna get flamed for this but,

For IOC to approve esports as part of olympics is already a huge step. Just be patient.

It sucks but ioc has a lot of factors to think about:

  1. you need to consider your sponsors, not all companies are like red bull
  2. generally olympics' audiences are older people by majority.
  3. Esports is additional expense😅

Adding FPS games would skyrocket a young viewership in the Olympics. If it’s profitability they’re worried about they shouldn’t be.

unfortunately, that line of thinking is kind of naive. Viewerships isn't the only thing that matters 😅.

League actually fits in nicely tbh if they want family friendly game ( no blood involved , and the screen is so small that there's little violence visible) if you don't count the community 😂

But it's absolutely impossible to understand for anyone not already familiar so that might be an issue

Oh yeah I didn't consider that, so in the end the only game tha actually fit is rocket league lol . ( simple to understand and family friendly)

ye we're fucked
sorta glad fps dodged the bullet for now, but wont be long till were fully integrated in the sports politics web too

like we knew we were screwed for a while now with Saudi so not that new, but this feels like a death blow, especially with how many people react to this positively - seemingly completely unaware of just how messed up the olympics are

I think he’s saying that the olympics is actually heavily tied into politics and now with games officially being recognised by the olympics similar things will start to happen to games which could be disastrous in the long term. I mean look at certain games already that have been dragged into this woke nonsense as some from Japan you should be all to aware of what happens when politics start getting involved with games due to a certain game developed by a North American company recently

most notable has to be yakuza series. Separately Square Enix also got flamed for trying to be woke(cmiiw).

Purely focusing on the political issues and ignoring ethical problems they cause inside the host countries:

Olympics have always, and will always, be a political tool. They are a great way for a country to celebrate themselves, change (inter-)national perception, and are generally one of the very best ways to sportwash ones image.

For the best documented case there are a ton of great articles/books on the 1936 olympics in germany. If youre remotely interested in sportwashing then thats one of the best places to start.
Its generally held relatively black and white ('tis the way history goes after losing a war) which makes it a lot easier to grasp the critiques using concrete examples compared more nuanced modern articles.

There are also detailed write-ups that I know of for China and Russia (and im sure for a toooooon of western countries too, who ofc will also be abusing the olympics for their own gain).

Heck even this years are already surrounded in political controversy with the snap election.

Then theres boycotts galore for political reasons. People accusing their political enemies of cheating etc.

Its a mess, deeply intertwined with political bs, that misuses sports. And now esports.

If you want a lighter critique try and see if you can find an online version of "Asterix at the Olympics Games", that ones at least fun to read, even if its messages are a bit more veiled.

well its a bit more than just sportwashing, but yes youll find most problems people have with the olympic games also handled under that term (so it should server you very well if thats a term youre already familiar with)
