Why doesn’t any VCT team utilize a 6 man rotating roster?

For example what is the purpose of signing a 6th player
If they will never play

If you mean for a rotating roster based on performance, it puts extra pressure on the players. thoughts like "If I play bad then I get benched and idk when I'd be back on the starting lineup" don't help anyone.

If you mean something like a player for certain maps, for example Jett maps and other player for raze maps I guess that is simply too complicated, like a high risk and a not so clear reward move.

a player like Curry who wants to focus on his career in streaming but can play when called upon, I think Curry wants to stream more than play.

your entire competitive year relies on pretty much 10 matches of regular league and adding extra pressure to players by making them play only a few matches/maps isnt gonna help much

People have said Team Heretics could’ve made it work if they genuinely wanted to. They were pretty close.

VS/DRX barely even utilized Lakia and essentially ruined his year of "play". Fitting that they never won a trophy and he did.

yeah i think this is the main reason. players will begin to think that one of their teammates is lacking or they prefer playing with one guy to another.

it breeds comparison

The point of a sub is to stand in for a player if something keeps them from playing. Like after Madrid sen thought JohnQT was going to miss the first game of stage 1, so Curry was going to play in his place.

It's already so hard to create solidarity between the player, without its just finding the scapegoat competition.

Talon finished Stage 1 with a 4-1 while substituting players on every game(surf and lenne)
