Who else agrees that OCE players should not be counted as imports in China as we really have nowhere else to go?

They can't reach playoffs in apac. If they're in china they can qualify fo sho
Uh technically OCE is a part of APAC but I don't really understand why China's a seperate region from APAC bc it literally stands for Asia Pacific.
Because it's too mush populated, the 4 T1 region got rougly 1 000 000 000 people, China alone is APAC, so yeah they need to have their separate T1 region.
They are other region that could have 1 000 000 000 but PC market is a little bit mush undevelopped (India, MENA, Africa), maybe they will also become a T1 in the future
If you have 5 region --> 3 spot for every team.
Also, it's good if mid team from emerging region go to chmapion it's good, it will make them improve and bring more hype to their domestic league, new market can't be conquered if they are a snowball effect for team that come from historic market, the paradox of "You can enter only if you are a regular" must stop
It's not fair for Americas or other good region that deserves more slots
I rather play in a competitive region and have 4 slot, than play in a bad region with 4 slots, being a good region is already a priviledge.
Giving more slot to a region just create a snowball effect
then why india doesnt have their own league? we know riot is owned by tencent and they are chinese bro you dont have to say things about population and stuff, we have brazil and united states on a single league here in americas
because out of the one billion people, only a handful number of people actually play/watch pc esports
we are not the same level as china in terms of esports development hence we dont have our own league
china are definitely high on pc users, but counting by percentage of people who plays pc games they aint that high on pc esports, they have 5x usa population and only 100m more users, if we share br and usa pc users americas has more and im not counting latam´s users (not as big as usa and br if you count them separately ofc but couting all of them together they might be another 150m or 180m) china is sure a huge market because of their large population but giving them a vct for their own is wild, the reason is definitely because of riot having cn influence because people were counting edg and some other cn orgs on vct pacific before the orgs got announced.
India doesn't have a T1 region, and it's pretty normal, PC isn't popular in India, PC market isn't that developed, you can't conquer a market that doesn't exist yet.
But Riot doesn't totally abandon India, India is a huge market for mobile game, the mobile game is directly oriented toward them, conquer the mobile market, wait the country end being developed and the PC being something everyone have, and you will already have a big market already conquered in the future. I think in 10 or 20 years India might have their T1 region, 2020-2030 is the decades of the decline of China and the continuing rise of India. Also keep in mind that India is 5 times less GDP than China, and their GDP is BELOW Germany, so India is not ready yet for a T1 region.
Well it make sense to make it in APAC, but I suppose CN lacking of good player for their 11 team gave an opportunity to OCE player, but it's weird to see it's primarily OCE player, and to see that those OCE player didn't manage to do some god performances :/
OCE player going to CN really need to be studied and explained, and with that explanation we will see if that make sens to make OCE in CN
I’ve been arguing for this since the beginning of franchising. We kinda don’t fit into any league, at least with the Cn league we have players in it, I wish riot would revisit this aspect of franchising
Ok but that’s one region we can adjust too, it’s much harder in pacific.
Drx, Geng, Ts, Tln, rrq, zeta, dfm
These are teams who are kinda country locked in who they can pick, yes teams like Talon and rrq have branched out, but they are meant to pick from the Thai/Indonesian scenes. That leaves prx - who won’t change their roster, t1- which could work but it’s unlikely, and GE- which is the most possible team for an oce player to join
When global esports is the team with the highest chance, you know there’s a problem
You basically have to wait that India develop their PC market, Riot create them a T1 league, and GE go to that league giving you the last spot.
Only 5% of Australia is Chinese, the number might grow in the futur andthat may make more sense, who knows...
TBH you could both fit in Americas and APAC, both are a great match, but riot didn't grant you a slot, so you can feel you are a part of it...
So yeah I suppose you have now an occasion with China, they have a lot of team to fill, not enough of good player, and OCE have no T1 team so they can fill in.
I think japan should give one spot to oce. either this, or a relegation system that allows for more teams to qual through ascension.
my suggestion would be:
after 2027, where the number of team spots cap out (carrying capacity), remove the 2-year system, and the bottom 3 teams will be relegated (e.g. EPL), and 3 teams from ascension make it to tier 1.
bottom 6 teams go through double elimination, bottom 3 from the 6 get relegated to tier 2, and ascension promotes top 3 teams to tier 1
The problem is that OCE esports is very underfunded. Even if an OCE team won ascension, i am 99% sure they wouldnt be finacially sustainable enough to be allowed in. They would most likely have to give the roster to another team that is willing to buy them, kinda Guard/G2 style but Im not sure how Riot would take it. There are only a couple of big teams in OCE including PWR, Ground Zero and FOCUSGG. These are the only teams I can imagine being somewhat stable enough to actually join the VCT
maybe but i dont know to much about JJH as an org itself so i dont know what their finance is like
