V1, Fnatic and now Nuturn now out of contention for Berlin. Now given that none of these teams were even considered top choices from their region, is the scene stabilizing or is the Iceland curse true?

I think it is a bit of both. They are good, but the top teams are finally playing to their potential. Plus as much as I like V1, I think their growth is capped at the moment.

yes to VKS, slightly less sure about KRU X10 and CR. I think LATAMN was sleeping a bit in stage 2 and six karma/infinity/lazer have a good chance of winning.
As for X10 I just think the loss of patiphan added to the fact that the qualification path is hard (16 teams) makes me a bit unsure about them.
For CR I didn’t like their roster changes and I think ZETA will regain the top spot and Nth could take the 2nd

If TSM win against NV which is unlikely then its easy path for the qual for Sentinels. Im also confident they can take on NV too.

tsm against sentinels would be scary for sentinels as they havent played tsm in so long and tsm looks to be on a heater rn. sentinels still probably make lowers sweep but its possible sentinels dont make it.

Scene is stabilizing but the format needs some work.

EDIT: Gonna be honest, Iceland was boring after the V1 vs Liquid game for me, dunno about anyone else. After V1 took down Liquid in a pretty convincing fashion + Sen taking down fnatic, results were basically predicted from then on.

the only "upset" after that was v1 losing to nu. you could see the disbelief in their facecams after lakia clutched that 1v2 in map 2. that got nu really gassed up and ultimately won them the match imo.

Yeah V1 kinda threw against Nu; not to say NU is a bad team, V1 had advantage.

But yeah, I felt like Iceland got boring after the EU teams lost to the NA ones.

V1 vs Liquid was the best. Showcased how a top 5-8 team versus a top 3 team in EU would look like (of course at the time). Good match but unexpected by many in that regard.

Region. V1, despite qualifying for Iceland, was still seen as a top 5-8 team in NA, not a top 3 team in NA.

what? V1 was easily second team, they had the perfect read of the meta, sure fans didnt see it that way since they appeared out of nowhere, but teams like C9, NV, 100T were nowhere near them lol, so I dont know what u talking bout. now they are back at 8th because the meta went back, so saying 5-8th>3rd seems wrong. I still think tho NA>EMEA

Idk, I just felt that they have a really good run to Iceland.

And to many, this was the case. Of course, if you looked at it objectively, then yeah, they have a grasp of the meta better than every other NA team (post-plant/controller meta).

But my point was regarding how others viewed it. Most people didn't view them as the second best NA team and when they went up against one of EU's "top dogs", it generated more hype than other matches.

i wasnt talking about the hype tho, i mean the biggest hype was the grand finals anyways, after that Liquid vs V1 and then Fnatic Sen. its basically NA vs EU that was hype but i was talkin about the actual hype in the server not outside of it

Liquid was never a "top dog" in EU. Just like fnatic and V1 they had one good run, before that it was just poor results.

Yeah, iirc, they bombed out of the round of 32 the challenger series before the one for Iceland.

I said "top dog", because everyone was hyping up Scream and how Liquid would take Iceland easily.

V1 wasnt on the meta, feels like they had no time to adapt after zellsis came back, fnatic was just trying to reinvent themself very hard and failed, while nuturn basically lost their best player of the team and the best sova in the world
