There's only asian people in the crowd, why is that? Is it something in the history of your country?
bro what is this fake news lmao, the US is generally not that racist. California is the closest to Asia, so it has the largest amount of Asian migrants, since it's the easiest place to migrate to in the US, and Asians are generally a wealthier demographic, which makes them more likely to go to an esports event which is a more niche thing.
nah, you're just clueless
This fact was applicable even in the heydays of CS in NA. If you went to any LANs or even cyber cafes, 60%+ of players were some sort of Asian-based descent. The first SoCal CS LAN I've attended in 2012 had only 5-6 white ppl present, and one of those was working on location, while the rest were players. But I know.... expecting you to leave your mom's basement is quite big of me.
I mean not really, white people are weird and mostly fake as fuck. Anyways y'all wrong, like go play cs or cod. Look at those LANs. A bunch of whites. Go look at quakecon.
Like think about it. America is a war hungry massively patriotic gun cult. Of course fps games are super popular with the majority demographic LOL
I don't have any dataset to provide you, because nobody tracks this in any official manner. However....
The source is the game. I've been playing since Beta. Go on California servers for 2 weeks and talk to people every match. See how many of them are of Asian descent, first generation Asian, or straight Asians that moved to US. Sounds like you're gonna be very surprised, but at least at that point the source will be "trust yourself bro"
This large population actually DOES have to do with California and the US's history.
During the Californian Gold Rush, a massive amount of east asians, mostly Chinese, immigrated to California to either join the prospectors in a search for gold, or to found businesses in boomtowns and pre-existing cities that would be used by the aforementioned prospectors - for example, some started laundry businesses, which were a great convenience for any newly-rich prospector, or any prospector wanting to spend their time looking for gold rather than doing their laundry.
Korean immigrants came to the US as a result of the Korean War. Either people looking for jobs in California, or women who married American soldiers that fought in Korea.
For the Japanese, the US's expansion and development into the West Coast made TONS of new jobs (like laborers to lay track for trains, for example). Japan was relatively unstable economically and living conditions were often rough, so many came to the US in search of jobs that were largely scarce in Japan.
Filipinos came to the US because of instability in their countries government, and like i mentioned above, a ton of available jobs.
Armenians (west asian, but still asian) immigrated to the US in order to escape the Armenian Genocide which was enforced by the turkish/ottoman empire.
Southern California has a humongous asian population
Like others said, enough people to make entire neighborhoods of LA to be known as "Chinatown" or "Little Tokyo" or "Filipinotown", etc
My hometown that i have now moved away from was i think 25% white, 20% latino, 25% korean, 25% Armenian, and the rest 5% other various peoples (aka almost 50% asian)
Half of my friends from my hometown are Asian (Korean and Filipino, and Armenian)
Even the town i live in now, although it has much less of an asian demographic, still has a lot
Anyway - yeah, the crowd has a lot of asians in it because we had a ton of asians immigrate to California at various points in our countries history
