If u don't wanna read viewership is down like 20%. Bring back OPTIC?
Not looking great... Those stats are bound to be down though. Last two Champs were in Europe, where timezones permit both the Western and Eastern hemispheres to watch the games at least to some extent. In the case of LA, EU and APAC viewers basically can't watch the last game, so if you take that in to account, it's not a bad number at all
“An important caveat to note is that viewers from Chinese streaming services are not accounted for as these platforms do not show the number of people who are tuned in.”
”This is especially noteworthy as Chinese Valorant is enjoying its most successful international run, with EDward Gaming and Bilibili Gaming both making the playoffs”
Fake outrage.

yay is tier 2 - ardiis is tier 1 import from emea ofc they gonna pay the breedingbull the big bucks?

i dont know what to tell you , there is a reason why ardiis is getting payed money to play the game but yay isnt and its not because ardiis is "boosted"
bonkashi [#6]its because of timezones. majority of games are at awkward times for both Pacific and Emea viewerbases. i can only ever watch the first match of the day because the second and third are always too late.
why is it always timezones 😭 shitty ass excuse
2021 and 2022 champs were held in Berlin/Istanbul, those timezone r more suited for ALL 3 region viewers to watch. Holding event in USA will resulted in less views from Asia in which JP viewers carried a significant portion. If champions are held in Europe next year, it will guarantee have more overall viewers guarantee.
Domination [#15]Should have hosted it at EU, EU timezone is the best 🗿
yeah next year should be a EU tour or even apac because NA people will 100% stay up to watch NRG core or sen lmfao
but ig not
we need barcelona paris london events

nah bro just wait for 2024 , yay is for sure gonna come back at the age of 25-26 after a 1 year break from pro play and perform , na scrims+radiant soloq=tier 1 international team tournament standard of skill

if i wasnt a neet i would not watch any match tbh just perma host tournaments in katowice or cologne or some shit , huge arenas with good esports history and production
BBC1 [#16]Not that many people in china watching this shit probably
Considering the game just came out over there and two teams are in playoffs, I’d be willing to bet there is a lot of interest.
eggsalt [#28]Considering the game just came out over there and two teams are in playoffs, I’d be willing to bet there is a lot of interest.
I'd be willing to bet nobody cares and theyre using 2 hours that they get daily to play games on League or pubg not valorant
JJfriends [#12]Last year didn't have Chinese viewership either no?
I don’t think any of these reports include viewership numbers from china. Now that the game is fully released in that region, Riot is probably doing a lot of marketing, inlduding the VCT. I’d assume there is a lot of new viewers, especially since billibilli is in playoffs and they are probably promoting it on their site
semicute_eboy [#26]if i wasnt a neet i would not watch any match tbh just perma host tournaments in katowice or cologne or some shit , huge arenas with good esports history and production
if only the berlin studio had a bigger capacity so theyd have an excuse to hold them there constantly
BBC1 [#29]I'd be willing to bet nobody cares and theyre using 2 hours that they get daily to play games on League or pubg not valorant
Right, quick look at your constant slander of anything to do with china or Chinese players tells me you don’t really care regardless
From group stage: "English and Japanese broadcasts — the viewership for these languages decreased by 35% and 39%, Portuguese viewers grew by 55%"
Now the main question is: How many viewers from all Chinese channels? There should be a lot, no?
Here's the report from EsportCharts themselves (Dexerto's claimed source): https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/valorant-champions-2023-valorant
And the main page of the tournament, but you'd need subscription to get all the stats: https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/valorant-champions-2023-valorant
P.S. Numbers do look alright without Asian viewers
bonkashi [#31]if only the berlin studio had a bigger capacity so theyd have an excuse to hold them there constantly
i assume its riot holding the tournaments , why cant they just host in same spots where they have held worlds? insane arenas with insane potential and im rather sure they can hold a metric fuckton of ppl + asian countries are insane spectators for any team playing imo probably best crowd there is

But we are measuring the drop in non-chinese viewership.
Why bring in chinese viewership when thats not the topic ?

Idk why people are upvoting you. Chinese viewership is NEVER accounted for in these reports.

300k + cn viewers watch edg matches on their website .... Esportscharts says that edg / blg matches get like 400k viewers but if u add cn streaming sites then it will be 700-800k . Basically Chinese matches get the most viewers along with loud matches
BBC1 [#29]I'd be willing to bet nobody cares and theyre using 2 hours that they get daily to play games on League or pubg not valorant
No one = 400k people
1) If you fuck up timezones japan , china , SEA , kr , viewership will drop . During big matches of asian teams people from here itself will give u like 200k+ viewers , during cn match like 300k cn fans watch. If bad timezone here then like 100k viewers lost depending on the popularity of the match.
2) Same thing with EMEA , prolly like 50-100k fans lost
3) If brazil team doesnt do good then again viewership lost . Loud's games in champs were the most watched . if lockin didnt have loud in finals there wouldve been 200k less viewers again , the viewers who just tune in for brazil team
4) If no NA team does good then again some sen 100t meatriders wont watch the game
So compared to Istanbul's 1.5m peak viewers im expecting this champs to have 1-1.3m peak viewers ( 1.3 if loud make it )
queueK [#42]for people asking about chinese viewership, there's like an average of 600-700k views on the VODS. I think the concurrent viewers are probably around like 50-70k average and 100k peak based on that.
On bilibili the hype meter or some shit is 3M and someone told me that the viewers is 1/10th of that so 300k
BBC1 [#29]I'd be willing to bet nobody cares and theyre using 2 hours that they get daily to play games on League or pubg not valorant
You'd be wrong. Even if we can't see their exact viewer counts; you can compare champions heat metric to the heat metric of other well watched events like the LPL. There are plenty of people watching.
semicute_eboy [#35]i assume its riot holding the tournaments , why cant they just host in same spots where they have held worlds? insane arenas with insane potential and im rather sure they can hold a metric fuckton of ppl + asian countries are insane spectators for any team playing imo probably best crowd there is
different production team. i'm sure the got some pride to make their own footprints instead of following LoL's foot

What are people gonna do, watch and enjoy the cast by "esports" Doug and "Fortnite" balla?
lmaooooooo. And balla said on platcast how much he hates watch parties cuz it takes away from his work. My brother, we watch the watch parties so don't gotta listen to you lmaooo

Valorant is dying, even the player base was cutted in half.
kfox [#53]I mean all of NA, SA, and EU couldn't watch Japan either and this wasn't much of a problem
Not a problem, no, but if you look at the viewership it's much lower than this current Champions, and even it was considerably higher than the previous Masters event, which was Copenhagen in 2022.
Masters Tokyo:
https://escharts.com/tournaments/valorant/vct-2023-masters-tokyo-valorant

"The timezones is not an excuse"
EMEA/APAC is still fine with matches until 1-2AM but in EMEA, the 2nd and 3rd matches start at around 2AM & in APAC its around 5-6 AM. Its not feasible for fans who have a job or go to a uni. Its worse for both of those fields which are a majority. I just think US timings mess up the whole timeline. Tokyo was still fine for EU/APAC but EU times are best for all I've noticed.
eggsalt [#57]Go read the article and come back to me when you actually read the article…

I read it, it's the same for every esport. WAKE THE FK UP.
