why does no one support teams in val?

like in other games and sports people support teams( real madrid fans, golden state fans, blue jays fans, navi csgo fans etc.) but in val it seems like most people support players and whatever team they go to. like i get there are messi or lebron fans that move around to different teams, but in val it seems like most people are more fans of players then teams. like most sen "fans" are really tenz fans or 100t "fans" are asuna fans etc.

it also seems like people in val have no loyalty. they switch teams to support very frequently depending on whos good atm. very few people really support and org no matter what even if the entire roster is changed.

idk what do u guys think

I mean i like the players cuz yk, they are the ones who capture our heart and are the ones winning. I hate SEN as a org but love the players on the roster.

Val personalities are more unique rather than other sports. With there being different agents, roles, abilities and playstyles. So players can differ vastly from their teammates hence why its easier to support players rather than orgs. (expect me who has undying loyalty for paperrex org regardless of whos on the roster)

I never understand supporting orgs unless its org with big social media presence like SEN with their tweet or 100T with cool merch. It doesn't make sense the players are the ones we watch ...

orgs like edg, prx, sen, fnc with strong org identities/playstyles tend to have fans, but since val teams are so small a lot of what people like to see is influenced by individual players

In sports, people usually support their local team. Navi CS has no real fans, only s1mple fans or Ukrainian/Russian fans

Most of the 100T and SEN fans have been there from the beginning even after multiple roster changes

Yeah and those other orgs that does not have relatively stronger "trademarks" of style and gameplay tend to receive lesser attention to a greater extent

Comparing one of the most successful clubs in the most popular sport in the world to an esport team is crazy 💀 use some critical thinking you dolt

There are only so many good football leagues, most countries aside from like 4-5 countries don’t have teams worth supporting. Esports games are much more globally competitive than football.

the difference between sports and esports is obviously in sports u can sell tickets on ur arena, and that is where the biggest revenue comes from in sports, so that's why they pamper their fans with a parade in their city and shit like that, and sports has been around for hundreds of years of history with all of the narrative/rivalry that comes from it, and that's why people like the teams itself not the players

while on esports, the org and the player are basically the same, both communicate to their fans through social media, so both of them have the same amount of reach, but people obviously going to like the players because they have a personality, not every esports org have a personality that fans can latch on to and like them for it, unless you're one of those orgs that like to make edgy tweets on twitter like Sentinels and G2

that's why I think franchising with all of the representation stuff that comes with it is somewhat of a good thing, orgs can benefit from it by representing a big fanbase so the fans can have something to root for, that's why AMER and PACIFIC have more viewership than EMEA, no one cares about team liquid being a dutch org but have all of their players from 5 different countries and none of them are even dutch, how is some dude who just discovered VCT from poland for example have reasons to root for them? if u watch AMER for example you can have NA vs SA matches or like Korea vs Phillipines in Pacific, people can easily attach themselves to a team and root for them

obviously region/nationality representation is not all the reasons why people root for a certain team, but it's the most approachable reason that a newcomer can latch on to. some people likes a team because they're fun to watch or they like the players and stuff like that, but for that to happened you need to be somewhat invested into the scene first.

sen would be the biggest org without tenz its kinda grown bigger than that atp they're just always on the right side of the narrative

I came for Hiko but stayed for Asuna
And although Asuna is never leaving 100T, let's say he does leave in a hypothetical situation, I would still stay with 100T (unless 100T sign shazam some day. Then I'm gone)

traditional sports are largely regional, people from LA are likely to support the Lakers, and people in Manchester will probably be United or City fans.
Esports are not nearly as regional, it's much more international and there are no real regional ties for most orgs

this is true for every team tho
ppl from around the globe support teams lol
walk around canada and u will see tons of people wearing jerseys of teams outside of canada
hard to determione how many fans a team has, but as an example golden state has 30 m followers on ig and and there are 800k ppl in san fran

I mostly liked certain players because I'd seen them in other games. For example I started with T1 with Brax, Ska, and Saya. Then when Saya was signed to the Guard I started liking them. I mean, I support teams from America's, but I mostly started watching pro Val due to players I already knew.

There isn't entirely specific City/State teams, as opposed to sports (For NA at least, there's obviously teams from specific countries in other regions). So it's a little harder to compare it to liking a sports team in the US.

1) no cities involved
2) more prominent personalities (with streams etc. you are closer to a pro esport player rather than a pro athlete)
3) orgs are dogshit and exploit pro players many times
4) no history behind an org (they maybe have 10+ years in other games but its still nothing compared to sport clubs
