If Zyppan joins Liquid, I hope he gets Shao and ANGE1 with him. They've been together since 2020 I think.
Derke, Shao, Zyppan, nAts, ANGE1 is a good team. ANGE1 is the only weak link but they need an IGL. If nAts IGLs then they can get Ruxic instead of ANGE1

I personally rank Leo as the best player in 2023 but I can clearly see Demon1's argument for being the best. Regardless, Leo should at least be top 2. Alfajer is in the 3-5 range.
Yeah the bias here is pretty insane. If you check last year's post (https://www.vlr.gg/268552/2023-player-ranking-survey) Leo didn't even sniff top 5 in any of the updates. The best player in the world ending up at 13th is absolutely criminal.

This is obviously not a perfect list but more of a fan voting. This doesn't really reflect the skill level of each player since, based off the past polls, recency bias plays a lot. In what world is Leo and Alfajer not top 5 in 2023 and Derke and Chronicle not top 10.

The only way I see Fnatic winning is if Leo comes back. Derke and Chronicle are in great form so if they keep that up and get Leo back it's gonna be early 2023 all over again.
Anyone know any rosters that had really good player but just didn't win much? First team that came to mind was 2022 Guild which had Sayf, Leo, and trexx. LOCK//IN C9 was also supposed to be a superteam with yay. 2023 Liquid was a "superteam" that flunked in LOCK//IN and was mid in any international LANs
The fact that Derke is still being compared to aspas even when Derke had Leo, Alfajer, and Chronicle on the same team fragging alongside him speaks volumes.
That's just how tournaments work I guess. At the end of the day, it's where you placed in a tournament and not where you could've placed.
Optic ended up 3rd while Guild ended up 7th-8th
As I see it:
OPTC=LOUD=FPX>FNC>XSET=LEV=TL=GLD
EMEA was also just FPX and FNC though.
2022 had Optic winning a Masters and being top 3 in all LANS. LOUD also won Champs. FPX were good and FNC were fine but Optic and LOUD were in a different tier that year.
2023 is really really close but I still value FNC's 1st 1st 4th placing than EG's 2nd 1st even if the 1st is Champs. I can understand if people think Americas were better in 2023 though, because LOUD also had good placements that year.
I agree that Sheydos and nAts are better than Alfajer at the moment but I can't put them on any All-VCT team if they haven't even played in a single international event this year.
As an EMEA fan, Americas is the better region this year. Heretics are the only EMEA team that looks scary in international LANS. Americas had SEN, LEV, and even G2 who are pretty strong teams internationally.
FNC had a super off year. NAVI forgot how to play Valorant. Liquid turned into a T2 team. KC had a fluke run. VIT was literally trexx+Sayf and friends. FUT is mid af.
Hopefully with Leo back next year, and a few roster shuffles, EMEA can produce at least 3 world-class teams (FNC, TH, and one more)
Over the years though, the best region has flip-flopped between Americas and EMEA.

Leo, Chronicle, RieNs, Wo0t, trexx, Shao (not this year though) are all world class initiators.
Compared to other regions where their best players are usually duelists
Berlin 2021 had some pretty iconic throws
GMB vs 100T Icebox
ACE vs 100T Breeze
Zyppan instead of Jamppi then. In Jett maps, something Jett's while Zyppan and Shao are on initiators. In Raze/Neon maps, Zyppan is the Raze/Neon while something and Shao are on initiators.
Unless Jamppi learns Raze and Neon which I kinda doubt will happen.
That rumor probably isn't true but even if it is, I don't think Liquid becomes a top 4 EMEA team. The only players I would want from NAVI is ANGE1 (if Enzo is gone because Liquid needs an IGL), and Shao but I don't think Shao would leave.
This is probably not gonna happen but if Paper Rex gets rid of something, Liquid probably has enough money to convince him to play in EMEA.
My dream Liquid team for next year that's probably not gonna happen is:

I'm a Liquid fan so I'm praying nAts doesn't leave Liquid. They should just build a better team around him. If he does leave, then sure.
And Viper/Senti Sheydos is literally the 4th highest rated player in EMEA during last split so I think he's pretty good.

EMEA talent pool is just shallow. Compare Americas T2 and EMEA T2. Americas T2 is stacked compared to EMEA T2. This is probably because CS is still more popular and the better choice for younger players in Europe.

TH and FNC are good enough representatives for EMEA in the playoffs. The best playoffs scenario would be: TH, FNC, GENG, DRX, LEV, G2, TE, EDG.
If Vitality wins against LEV then it would be nice but I think I prefer 2 teams from each region in the playoffs.
