if you think the grand final of americas is an accurate reflection of the skill of g2 you are delusional and g2 shit on heretics last time they played split it wasnt close

posted 5 months ago

icebox is heretics favored 55/45
lotus is 50/50
bind is g2 favored 60/40
split is g2 favored 65/35
breeze is heretics favored 60/40

im saying you saying the level of play is low and then doubting that teams last year would be good makes zero sense because it implies we have seen a higher level then the current one.

posted 5 months ago

how you doubt what i said then proceed to say the teams look mid now implying we have seen better. and prx basically just dropped jingg in for monyet and didnt change any comps had they always knew jingg was gonna comeback they wouldnt have practiced all these other comps.

posted 5 months ago

nah bru overall level has increased across the board so teams look less dominant but i will say i do think EG and PRX last year would be very good and would place high at all these events.

lowkey iso is a bigger winner then neon this change literally turns him into a human drone and this makes his ult way better it allows you to win the fight pretty much every time and even if you lose at worst its a 4v4 used effectively. plus he already has a good piece of combo utility that can also be used to push people off lines like a worse omen flash but you get two. he obv doesnt compete with movement type duelists but paired with a raze and gekko he slots in very nicely to meta comps and just theory crafting in my head i feel like the value is there. what do you guys think? not saying he'll be meta or anything just that i could see him getting played and it being good. also i see a lot of people gassing the neon changes its not that crazy imo nerfed raze > buffed neon.

what do you think is better?

posted 5 months ago

i mean they didnt win with johnqt either

posted 5 months ago

no tier 2 just has quite a few good teams and when 2 of your best players get poached especially your igl the team isnt gonna be as good.

in some scenarios i think its good and necessary in others i dont like it really just depends. i think it always makes events more fun to watch tho bc each match the stakes are very high

  1. Lock//In Sao Paulo 2023
every team being at this event made it extremely hype plus first event in franchising. the format made it very interesting being single elim quite a few upsets happened. every team being at the event also caused a wide variety in match quality which was very entertaining you would get a match like nrg vs loud then liquid vs ts clownfest. great storylines with fnatic, 100t, and loud. the real reason i have this event over champs 2023 tho is the grand final most hype crowd we have seen in valorant a long with the best comeback to win the trophy i think it will take a long time to be topped.

  2. Champions 2023
highest level of play we have seen from any event, PRX upset in the grand final, loud redemption against all odds, BLG, group of death. some all time great storylines combined with a hype crowd and high level of play is a recipe for a great tourney.

  3. Masters Madrid 2024
resurgence of sentinels, GenG introduction, karmine corp redemption, paper rex monyet run quite a few memorable storylines, level of play was quite high here too besides a handful of maps played by the chinese teams. pretty hype crowd. banger matches like prx vs heretics and the 2nd best grand final we have seen. sucks that the format to get here was so shit it makes it a bit fraudulent.

  4. Masters Tokyo 2023
EG run + Fnatic dynasty are some of the best storylines we have seen so far. the prx sub run was super fun to watch and the infamous cove moment is one of the most hype or sad moments depending on who you were rooting for. level of play was at a near all time high only 1 tournament was higher imo. Navi vs EDG was such a hype match. biggest negative was the grand final was very boring to watch but still a great tourney.

  5. Masters Copenhagen 2022
emergence of chamber meta which was fun at first. great storylines with fpx, prx, guild etc. also the the original group of death in my eyes with a elimination game between optic and loud. probably the overall highest level of play we saw in 2022 still far from 2023 or 2024 but you dont see constant mistakes in every game. no crowd does hurt it but still a great event for the time and still one of the most hype grand finals we have seen.

  6. Champions 2022
height of the loud vs optic rivalry which ended up with loud getting revenge. pretty sure this was the first event with a crowd although i dont remember it being that hype. chamber meta was getting a bit redundant by this point. pretty mid storylines outside of optic vs loud. level of play had increased a lot since the start of the year but was still a lot lower then future tourneys.

  7. Masters Reykjavik 2022
fraudulent ass tourney right here the best team couldn't attend because of Russia Ukraine war but still the start of optic vs loud rivalry and the zeta run was cool to see since japan hadn't won a game on lan prior. still no crowd which sucked and the the level of play was better then 2021 but still low compared to future tourneys.

  8. Masters Berlin 2021
same thing as champs boring meta, low level of play, no crowd but at least the teams had good players and weren't all frauds like the other 2 events in 2021 and gambit had a good storyline.

  9. Champions 2021
peak of astra/viper meta which was the worst valorant meta to watch. most teams who were good earlier in the year had fallen off and acend winning is still the most fluke win we have seen in valorant. level of play here was also very low reyna having a decent pick rate tells you everything you need to know. also no crowd.

  10. Masters Reykjavik 2021
stone age era of valorant very low level of play. sentinels just firepower diffed everyone and there was no crowd very boring watch.

ill update after shanghai is done.

loud is resigning pancada and wasnt even that bad before i mean they made madrid with qck and got eliminated by 100t.
rrq has shown signs of promise this year and with the added firepower of monyet i think they can make it.
talon lost 2-1 to prx and went 4-1 in regular season and didnt randomly swap out their igl like drx and i believe in the macro of the team also frost is a good coach.

posted 5 months ago

ill be very disappointed if they do this format again with the arenas for champs like everyone just plays in pacific studio until top 4. also have they ever done this where they switch arenas mid tourney before?

posted 5 months ago

results dont always tell the whole story also g2 are better then when they last played them

posted 5 months ago

not good? https://www.vlr.gg/314648/kr-esports-vs-100-thieves-champions-tour-2024-americas-stage-1-w4
chokers when? they got aspas'd out of shanghai he 1v4d which was the difference between them winning the map and in lcq they won 5 games straight. also if were talking about not that good sentinels lost to EG and disabled loud + they are losing split which they abused to get to madrid in the first place they seriously have to step it up or they are gonna get grouped again.

https://www.vlr.gg/314648/kr-esports-vs-100-thieves-champions-tour-2024-americas-stage-1-w4
not far fetched to think kru could beat 100t and g2 are getting haven back they dominated on that map last year i also think everyone is going to look at 100t like sentinels as the team to beat in americas and they are gonna overlook g2 because everyone does. unless g2 win the event but even then i think g2 are hard to anti strat because they play to anti strat opponents.

posted 5 months ago

they improved a lot over split 1 which i think shows that the team is dedicated to getting better and not just there to collect a paycheck which gives me a lot of hope for them improving even more for split 2 which should be easier since so many other regions are there for shanghai

i see this take a lot and i understand where its coming from but i dont think its 100% true the overall quality of each league has increased thats a fact but the very top teams this year excluding GenG so like sentinels, 100t, paper rex, g2, heretics i think would all lose to champs EG and PRX but this depends on the question as a whole and if were taking into account the evolution of the game bc fnatic i actually think would lose because towards the end of the year it was pretty obvious that teams figured out fnatic and as most teams just stole what fnatic were doing take lotus for example and this year we saw what a slightly out of form fnatic with 0 innovation looks like in 2024 and its not great.

tuyz is a good player + good stats on duelist + pancada + they made an event with qck

posted 5 months ago

yeah i dont think 100t come top 3

yeah geng will win this event was obv from day 1 to anyone that wasnt a prx fan

posted 5 months ago

heretics weakest component is their map pool also g2 kinda clear ngl their mental is way better on top of being pretty even gameplay wise and no chance they beat geng in a bo5 they have never been there before geng have and heretics suck in bo5s we saw that against kc and fnatic.

posted 5 months ago

yeah nah but they could beat 100t that was a big choke from prx they are very beatable
