W take honestly

posted 2 months ago

Nah this take ain't it. There is 100% a possibility that EDG win against LEV. They probably should've closed out their match with G2 (they choked a few crucial rounds) and they convincingly beat SEN. They're capable of beating LEV but I think it largely depends on the map veto.

If Haven gets through it's a 2-0 for FNC, but probably 2-0 regardless

Nah this bait is shit but there are people who actually believe that EDG doesn't deserve top 3 so I'll just say that I absolutely laughed off EDG after those Shanghai performances but what they needed was a coaching change (as do many Chinese teams imo) and now they look the best they ever have. The core roster of EDG has always had the mechanical talent to be a top team in the world and you're blind if you couldn't see that.

Their midrounding was a serious problem at past events, even at Tokyo it was hero plays from KangKang getting them over the line. But they're playing as an excellent team right now. KangKang isn't always topping the scoreboard and they're winning. That's a huge step for them.

Baseless accusations from an unreliable source from which VLR and Twitter NPCs overreacted and immediately believed the 'victim' for no reason other than wanting to cancel someone.

Haodong's been with the team a long time and they're all close friends, so putting him on the coaching staff instead of just benching him was a major W. I'm sure he's a big part of them regaining their mental when the game isn't going their way.

I don't think anyone has ever denied how good and humble the PRX players are, especially forsaken and davai. PRX fans have always been the issue, never the players.

"I don't know why these 2 particular streamers have such a large following"
The 'twitch generation' are mainly NPCs. That sounds toxic to say but twitch chatters spend a sickening amount of time watching other people play video games. I watch plenty of Let's Plays on YT and there's nothing wrong with that, but there's something about twitch chatters that are a bit braindead if you ask me. Try to read twitch chat for major streamers like Kai Cenat and Tarik and tell me it's not headache inducing sometimes, you'll understand what I'm trying to say.

It's a bit wild considering their poor performance internationally until Champs. They're better now than they were in Tokyo. Turns out AfteR was a major problem and Nobody is an excellent caller.

posted 2 months ago

He has a ton of pressure on him because he feels like he has to micromanage everything. He's basically a perfectionist with his calling and that leaves him unable to focus properly on his movement, crosshair and general mechanics. Notice how he performs much better in 2v4 or whatever type of clutch situation. He's capable of playing at least a bit better than he typically does but without a secondary caller to ease the pressure he frags like shit.

I had them top 3 as well. They play some of the best 'honest valorant' you'll see but it does get exposed against certain teams, FNC being the most recent example. Not having an X factor duelist and not being able to adapt their by-the-book playstyle holds them back.

cold take

I feel like we're in a scenario where any of the 6 remaining teams have what it takes to win. It largely depends on TH continuing their upper bracket run. If EDG beat SEN and LEV beat TH there's a high chance that EDG make the grand final and that's pretty crazy. FNC and DRX in the lower bracket are both scary opponents. If TH continue winning in the upper bracket they won't have to worry about choking a best of 5 in the lower.

My prediction is a TH vs SEN grand final.

boaster mysterio

I'd be fine if Lakia gets another shot, but he is by far the worst mechanical player on the team. A lot of people keep saying Zest and he probably would be an upgrade, even if he improves the team by only 10-20% (I think he's being slightly overrated).

Boaster is still an A-tier igl for EMEA and a D tier fragger on a good day,, the problem is that there's not a lot of great igls on the market over there. It should be a Haodong situation where he ends up on the coaching booth, but there's no replacement for him.

Problem with G2 is that they've proven to be weak in a best of 5 series. LEV could crumble at any point. I see SEN and DRX making a deep run depending who wins their upcoming match. I'm hoping for a DRX win tbh.

Nah people in this thread don't watch the games. Forsaken on initiator isn't that great. His Sova and Breach are objectively not very good. Seems to be fine on Kayo. He'd be a poor replacement for Lakia I think. Not to say he's a worse player, but for that role I don't think he's the right choice.

DRX vs SEN is the most important match. Will determine everything. I'm predicting the DRX miracle run.

This was the worst draw for Trace. They literally can't beat EDG. It's like a mental block for them. If they did manage to beat EDG I could legit see a way for Trace getting to the grand final (depending on the results of the other quarterfinal matches).

Honestly I could see Trace beating SEN and making top 4. It's not hard to picture right now.

posted 2 months ago

I don't think they were the favorites, a top 3-4 team on everyones list though. They farmed regionally and won Stage 2 without much in their way. But winning a stage doesn't mean shit once you're at Champs and we should stop being fooled by it.

posted 2 months ago

Now that GENG and possibly FNC are out, who is the favorite to win? Are we actually going to see a h0r0t0cs victory?

posted 2 months ago

Lakia has always gotten hate. He improved after Madrid but he's back to choking again. He's objectively the worst player on the team and it's very easy to put all the blame of a loss on the worst player (not what I'm doing, but that's how fans are).

ZmjjKK (Duelist)
Smoggy (Controller/Flex)
AAAAY (Initiator)
Yuicaw (Sentinel)

6th man: Chichoo or FengF
HC: Destroyer
Would love to add Kai but that's too many cooks in the kitchen. He's a good sentinel but he's best on duelist, and he's #2 Jett behind KK

I feel like gaming laptops die after a couple years. I've had several mid priced gaming laptops fall apart (keyboard just starts to break) and the graphic drivers just go to shit.
