teams r working out their comps without Skye so scrim results are genuinely useless now
Astralis were being considered as the greatest CSGO team in history at the time and literally came off of winning a major before that event (Ethan was also knocked out by Astralis in that same major), EG were absolutely not the favourites by anyone and yet they still took home the W. In Valorant, EG were definitely in the discussion of being the Champ winners heading into the tourney and Ethan knew it fully. It was his first S-Tier tourney to win too, so it makes sense why he values it more.
ardiis has a criminal record for voluntary manslaughter, pretty sure he also fist fought yay for the NRG spot too which is just fucked
jawgemo is clearing VCT i knew it bro my king my dog my hero my finals MVP
it would be cool to see what comps these teams play from now until vct starts though
im just getting objective here none of us really know if they really fuck with the changes rn.
compared to the 4-5 months they've been hard scrimming/winning shit with the current meta, it's not that long as you make it out to be.
i mean we don't even know if some or even the majority of teams are willing to change their playstyle bc of how late it is into the offseason. Skye might still see a lot of play during Kick Off and SEN in particular I feel are the most likely to do just this since they found immense success of the current meta during the off season. Change is risky no matter what at the end of the day, SEN found something that worked wonders and now they're being threatened to adapt.
i think breach is somewhat good enough to be played on some maps but im not talking about there being a good replacement for skye, there's certain aspects and adjustments they have to make now that skye's gone that'll end up affecting their gameplay. Things like pistol rounds need to be looked over bc now they won't have Skye's reliable healing, site execs with breach are not only different but harder to coordinate with a Raze engage to be as reliable as Skye's bird so that needs to be looked over too, the lack of presence of a regenerative flash will have them manage their mid and early rounds differently, etc etc.
They've made Breach work on Sunset though so its not all doom and gloom, but breaking a habit like this to develop into the new meta completely is def hard and they weren't showing that kind of adaptively last year when the double controller meta came to be. On top of allat, they also have to consider their playstyle when they aren't playing against a Skye in her meta maps.
changes like these aren't as simple as you think though
aim isnt everything though for the love of god lol
mark my words once EG wins everything, jawg is above all
i mean its understandable but your main point doesnt really need a comparison anyways so its whatever
well, in terms of the dominance prime chamber had, theres already been a few champs like that like release Aphelios which was like 2x as strong. I get that you're not really that knowledgeable in League but pretty much every newly released champ after like 2018 or something had the same sort of dominance prime Chamber had. Viego, Ksante, Gwen, Zeri, etc etc etc.
Storylines are indeed affected by shit like this too, a lot more than you think, and fundamentally they are different compared to what was the norm. Zeri introduced a completely new playstyle for ADCs that was literally the most broken shit you could play on the role in forever that was impossible to pull off on other champs.
I'm comparing Val to League because you brought up the comparison yourself though, I was just going off of that. I don't quite get what you're talking about here too, sry
no those storylines are still gonna be ok I can promise you that. Like in LoL, meta changes are pretty common before MSI and especially Worlds, that Udyr meta was just a quick example of Riot not caving in if a meta feels boring or not, like that whole Udyr ordeal only came to be in Jan whereas some metas that carry over from the preseason get gutted during MSI or sometimes in the middle of a split.
just to further clarify it, this practice of last second meta changes isn't normal in LoL at all and it would be receiving even more hate over there, like a lot more.
they know dawgemo clears deep down inside but they refuse to accept it
The current meta isn't being changed because it's boring, it's being changed because it's been the staple for far too long now. If this wasn't the case then there would've been a meta change last year before Masters or Champs, two of the biggest events the game can offer, to make up a meta that's priorities individual skill more to make it more exciting or smth. Riot don't purposely change the meta to make it more exciting, they usually only do it for the sake of change whether ppl agree with it or not.
Back in the first half of 2021, LoL was in the most stale as fuck meta that has ever graced the game which was the Udyr meta where the honest to god same 12-15 champions were always played while the other like 10 actually broken champs were perma banned 100%. Calling it boring would be a genuine understatement that shit was literally mind numbing to watch. Riot let that meta go on from Jan to MSI, they simply do not care whats boring and what isn't.
Also a meta change in Jan should've been expected it shouldn't be big news or anything, the issue is that teams ended up considering that there wasn't gonna be another meta change since its late into Jan. idk why Riot wasn't vocal about this since they usually would be back in LoL though, not a lot of openness to the community going on
The game has been losing relevance but once that China money comes rolling in, Riot are gonna do everything in their power to popularize Valorant so they can have another cash cow. Dw about it.
Yeah ngl the doubt has been insane but it makes sense on paper since they just lost the GOAT. Thing is though, meta reads will always be stronger than a single player’s individual performance, this game isn’t built for that kind of Shaq-like dominance
Honestly no this is just a Val thing when it comes to scheduling and late patches. For league, their scheduling is way better, and their patches instead of doing shit last second they instead make stupid af decisions in order to make certain champs popular for skins n shit.
So for patches, Valorant harrrrrd clears. For scheduling, LoL harrrrrrrd clears pretty much.
They’ve done it in 2022, 2023, and they’ll do it again. They’ve showcased themselves to be the most adaptive team in the scene and even popularized the double controller meta last year single-handedly, and now that we’re entering VCT 2024 with a possible complete meta change since Skye was a big pillar for a lot of the current strats and comps, the LOUD gang will most likely be the first team to popularize the new meta teams will refuse to adapt to bc of how late these changes were made.
Expect them to start off strong this year is all I’m gonna say. Teams that are too slow on the uptake will suffer and no team whatsoever is an exception. Shit is like this is why we should stop jacking off to off season results too whether they’re bad or good.
ya, potentially meta changing too since skye has been sort of the pillar of the double controller meta
FNS is older than sideshow and I jus found that out, sideshow looks like he’s in his late 30s wtf

Hope he appreciates the recent Skye nerfs that’ll end up changing the meta less than a month before VCT. All the change does is promote last minute innovation no? Let’s see if he fw the new strategically deep comps bc surely he would be happy for it 🔥🔥🔥
you’re lowballing it rn, skye provided the hard engage and it’s a big part of why she has been so prioritized, it’s hard to maximize your raze with kayos util and it’s why I could see breach being picked up more
kayo too ngl, his knife is still regenerative and he still has his flashes. Breach has only been barely playable bc he was completely overshadowed by skye and now she just got shit on.
Sova 2.0 meta requires literally the entire meta to change and I don’t think teams are willing to go for it as of right now. I say this even though a single team can introduce a new meta with this nerf though by themselves but that would be too funny
I knew shit like this was gonna come and it’s why I keep saying the off season is useless bc of this.
congrats on breach/kayo being meta now 🥳🥳
Hard disagree with this, who the fuck cares how slow a meta shift happens if speeding it up means teams play way less after a 6 month off season lol. Would decreasing the amount of games even further continue to maximize strats and fun storylines?
On top of allat, this guy values scrims over onstage games for practice when it comes to onstage fucking games lol.
zombs under tenz ☹️
