I assume we will see an era of Astralias/SKT/OG in Valorant at some point, maybe after a few years. Dynasties are very hard to form.
cNed, zeek, flander, last two are kinda whited out. Looks like monsteerr is correct tho. If it means anything Surf went 8-1 vs cNed.
DRX being as strong as always is a good sign. I don't expect much from them tbh but if it's the same level of strength shown by Masters 3 VS then I have some hopes!
no way you replace xeta when he was the reason you made it to LB Grand Finals
considering the stranglehold DRX has over Asia and the fact that PRX's coach has gone on record to say DRX are the number 1 team in the APAC region I think it's safe to assume DRX would have won in a head-to-head.
are you talking about Sprouts's comment on TR and BR aim lmaoooo he isn't wrong those two regions have insane aim but mediocre strats
shitting on other regions=/=supporting your own
bruh
Also the only region besides NA and EMEA to place in top 3 at an international event
It's okay man school test scores don't mean anything. You can be the top 0.1% and go nowhere; conversely you can be the bottom of your class and go on to find success.
It's all about resilience and being able to bounce back from failure. You may not get better immediately, but effort doesn't go to waste. Head up king.
Iirc Munchkin said he didn't want to rejoin a Korean team but we'll see what happens 👀
UPDATE: Looks like Munchkin has just left Crazy Raccoon
He took a break from OWL to play Valorant but I suspect he just wanted a break from OWL rather than wanting to play.
yessir
cheers!
thanks!!
thank you sir
thank you :D
Hate, Bazzi, Munchkin, Xeta, and BuZz.
At least one of these names will sound familiar to anyone who has an interest in professional Valorant.
It may be surprising to some that at one point, all of them were on the same team.
This is the story of Cloud9 Korea.
In June of 2020, Riot Games revealed its latest game: VALORANT, a hero-based tactical FPS intended to compete with the powerhouse that is CS:GO.
Cloud9, an org well known for winning the only Major title for North America, announced their first Korean Valorant roster on August 20, 2020.
This roster was set with
Kim "DoYa" Do-gyeong
Park "Bazzi" Jun-ki
Byeon "Munchkin" Sang-beom
Kang "Try" Tae-wook
and
Yoo "Moothie" Seung-woo
with Yoon "Autumn" Eu-teum as their Coach.
The roster would compete in the Huya PangHu Cup, where they would reach 4th place after losing to Chinese teams TYLOO and O2 Gaming, and then get knocked out in the RO32 of Korea's Clan Battle Act 2 #1, with a 5-13 loss versus Crazy Hamster.
After adding Yoo "BuZz" Byung-chul to their roster as a 6th man and substitute, Cloud9 Korea would finish 4th during Clan Battle Act 2 #2, with a close 10-13 loss to aNg DarkHorse.
They would participate in the Asian A.W Extreme Masters Invitational and top their group after comfortable 2-0 and 2-1 wins vs Singapore's TEAM SMG and Japan's DetonatioN Gaming White. However, C9K would be knocked out by T1 Korea for the chance at Grand Finals, and then lose 1-2 in a close 10-13 Bind game vs Japan's top team, ABSOLUTE Jupiter.
Four days later, Try, Moothie, and DoYa would leave the team.
On October 27th,
Yoo "BuZz" Byung-chul,
Son "Xeta" Seon-ho,
and
Lee "Hate" Ye-hun would officially (they had been playing with the team since the 20th) join as their replacements, with new Head Coach Pavane, well-known for his success in Overwatch.
This new Cloud9 roster would go on to be one of the best teams in Korea, never finishing below 4th at almost every tournament they attended.
In Clan Battle Act 2 #3, they would demolish the precursor to NUTURN, PROPARTY, 13-0. They would also beat project_kr, Lunatic-Hai, and Quantum Strikers, sister team of Korean powerhouses Vision Strikers (currently DRX).
Ultimately, the team would fall to VS in a close 1-2 series with a 12-14 loss on Bind to end the match.
Cloud9 Korea participated in the APE Valorant Battle, where, after a comfortable 2-0 vs PROPARTY, they would get their revenge against T1 Korea, finishing 1st place after a 2-1 win.
However, after finishing 3rd-4th at Clan Battle Act 2 #4, getting Top 8 at First Strike Korea Qualifiers, and 3rd-4th at First Strike Korea Playoffs, on the 11th of December 2020 Cloud9 would disband their Korean team in favour of their struggling NA roster, a decision that was questioned at the time by fans. This was likely influenced by the "VALORANT Esports Rules and Policies" rulebook update in November 2020 regarding concurrent teams and rosters.
The players would each leave for different teams internationally; Hate joined Damwon Gaming KIA-and later TNL Esports, Bazzi would end up on On Sla2ers after playing with Munchkin on Crazy Raccoon, Xeta was picked up by Cloud9 Blue as their initiator player, and BuZz would play for Rio Company, and currently DRX.
4 out of 5 players on this team would attend VCT Champions 2021; all four would be some of the highest performing players in their respective roles and on their team.
This is my first time writing an article on anything so it will likely be shoddy. Hope this ends up being an interesting read.
you are on something bro.
GodDead, TS, Bazzi, Zunba, and k1ng are all good players but there are plenty who are just as good if not better.
WGS literally 2-0'd ONS.
Hate, eKo, Meteor, Munchkin, allow, suggest, foxy9, Lakia, hyeoni, these guys are all equal if not better than the players on ONS. You could make tier 1 teams out of the admittedly shallow talent pool in KR. Look at HolyMolly. Random FA team that made it to lower GF.
The talent is there, they just need orgs to sponsor and support them.
The new F4Q roster looks good too.
The top 50 players in KR ladder are all cracked but only a few are on org sponsored teams.
C9 Korea, which consisted of BuZz, Bazzi, Munchkin, Xeta, and Hate got 13-1'd by VS. Now Xeta is one of the best Sova players in NA. Bazzi is one of the best Jetts in KR. Munchkin was the best player in Japan last year. BuZz is prob the best player on DRX too.
1 stax clutch away from knocking out fnatic 2-0
to be fair OWL aim gods could easily have the best aim in the world if they move to Valorant. Like Sayaplayer.
Imagine Carpe, Fleta, Ans, Stitch, etc. if they ever move over.
DRX never lost an international game on haven iirc
HOWEVER thats because they have the best Breach in the world (stax) and were way ahead of the Haven meta. Now that Breach is beginning to be used by other region we may see a new team 👀
thats really cringe. just build up your own talent. best team in jp is all japanese learn from the best.
solid player for C9Korea and TNL, which was arguably the second best team in Korea after Reykjavik.
ZETA PRX & XIA above DRX is a bit shaky tbh, imo they are on the same level, or DRX is higher. Just because DRX still hold the throne amongst Asian teams.
zidane the new sacy
also just an addon - Hate is one of the original C9 Korea members, along with
BuZz
Bazzi
Munchkin
Xeta
The superteam that almost was. I should write a piece on that tbh.
I haven't seen anyone mention but Jadeite Hate (more importantly ex-TNL Hate) is FA rn. Could be a really big pickup for any KR teams
those sponsors have brain damage.
I would assume bad work ethic and lack of drive as Todak is big in MY as a brand but consistently does bad in VCT nowadays.
I think FNC and DRX's peak should be higher.
"to reach upper finals you have to beat 2 of the best teams" - not necessarily true depending on groups.
dont forget that whoever makes the lower bracket run has to beat the same teams the upper bracket runner beats as well. its a better way to properly rank the teams in the tournament. vct korea had a single elim tourney and thus the second best team in KR (TNL) did not get to go to Berlin for Masters because they ended up getting an unlucky draw versus VS.
single elim means anyone can just go win depending on their luck in groups. double elim proves that you deserve your spot at GF and it wasnt a lucky sequence of teams.
also statistically double elim is better.
Team Liquid are on a tear through the competition, knocking out both OpTic and The Guard 2-0 and 2-1. They meet FNC in semis and humiliate them in a 13-0, 13-0 show of dominance.
TL has qualified for the Grand Finals vs NIP, the stage is set.
Then suddenly, Vladimir Putin declares an end to the war in Ukraine, and sanctions are lifted in just a day.
FPX, given that TL have participated in their stead, are allowed to rejoin at the cost of having to play a bo5 vs EMEA's 4th seed.
FPX completely demolish Liquid, winning 3-0 with a map score of 13-1, 13-2, and 13-0.
FPX have qualified for GF over Liquid!
Grand Finals becomes a craze. You could feel the momentum. The players play their hearts out, with a quintuple overtime map. The APM and pressure causes Riot's PCs to spontaneously combust.
As the smoke clears, Shao is seen defusing the spike. As the timer beeps, it explodes. "Kurwa" Shao whispers, then falls unconscious to the ground from exhaustion. The match is over.
NIP 3-0 FPX
all sorts of shit could happen in one game. could be a fluke. if the team that wins upper bracket is the best they will beat whoever wins lower bracket anyway.
why should it double elim is good, that's how the guard secured 1st seed.
to be fair that same NV had covid and lost to X10 too
anyway i think just watching their games it was evident that Acend looked bad. not off results but actually seeing the games. thats my take. it seemed pretty evident to anyone who watched who was a true neutral tbh.
me personally i think they looked terrible and honestly even if VK didn't use the cypher cam exploit they would have lost anyway. they looked like a different team after groups though but i think anyone could see that groups acend would not have done well in the tourney.
