You realize drx would win more rounds in total throughout the series, lose to a 0.02 spike explosion, etc. Those series were as close as they could have been. I could flip a coin and it could very likely land on heads the first 3 times. Nevertheless, that's not even my point lol. It's that mako > marved
They were all incredibly close series that could have gone either way. How does that even explain how one single person on one role was better than one single person on the other team with the same role?

The most ideal way would be to give 2 to china and some sort of 4 way fight for a final slot from the best remaining team from each region (perhaps a group stage where each team plays the other 3 teams once and the best team advances). But like you said, unlikely to happen.
Perhaps based off international results leading up to Champs is the most probable way to go (like winner of Tokyo) in deciding which region should get another slot.
People getting downvoted for saying chamber meta but it's facts. With no chamber to hard anchor a site and essentially ensure a free kill or two before dipping out to safety while the rest of the team could show much heavier presence on the other site, Optic would be in a similar position that NRG are in. C9 isn't dumb, they dropped yay for a reason, it wasn't some random decision out of nowhere, he didn't offer close to what he did on Optic before chamber got hard nerfed.
