There is obviously a lot of debate around the franchised teams riot has selected, but there are a few things the people keep throwing around that are misunderstood, or blatantly wrong.

The first is the reason for franchising teams - it is NOT based on results.
Teams are franchised based on their;

  1. Willingness to spend big money on the valorant scene
  2. Popularity + fanbase
  3. Past connections with riot

Even though teams like optic and fpx performed well, teams like cloud9 and sentinels have much larger followings and streaming publicity, so understandably they were selected.

Another thing people don't understand: MOST ROSTERS WILL CHANGE! Think of franchising as a hard reset to the valorant scene. While some good teams that got into franchising, like Loud for example, will keep their roster, many others will completely change. It is CERTAIN that rosters like optic and fpx will be signed to franchised teams, because they have proven they are consistent and can win. It is also likely that franchised teams like Sentinels will rebuild their rosters around their most popular players (tenz, shahz etc.)

TLDR: franchising is based on the org, not the results. + most rosters will change.

Good luck in finding a team ❤

It must have been rough, and a real hit on the mental, not being able to play for an org for a year because of some political bullshi out of your control.

Kay/o is fine, different regions have different styles and Kay/o is just a generalist; He's good on every map but not broken. So there's no need for nerfs.

That's just banter and hype around their first international appearance. Didn't have any weight behind it at all, but Boom fans are softer than play dough and dumber than bricks.

you are delusional if you think having 3 of the top 5 most influential Valorant players in the world did "literally nothing to their chances of franchising". Their team has so much clout, Riot would be missing out on hundreds of thousands of viewers and fans. There is NO world where their team doesn't get franchised, and the shroud pickup solidifies that.

I already talked about SEN's approach to the aftermath of franchising in my original reply, but you're clearly illiterate.

Because right now it's about GETTING franchising, not playing in franchising. Once Sen gets in (it's guaranteed with their roster) they will happily change if they aren't getting results/making enough content $$$
