"Comparison of the first day of the major with a similar top event in Valorant (VCT 2022 Stage 1 Masters) shows that the CS:GO tournament is significantly superior to its competitor in all major metrics. Even taking into account the fact that several games are being played simultaneously at the major, particular matches gathered more viewers than at Reykjavik: Masters. In viewership comparison, the Average Viewers PGL Major Antwerp was ahead of VCT 2022 Stage 1 Masters by 34%, and in terms of Peak Viewers — by almost 37%."

CSGO MAJOR in Off Topic
Of course it will. Even a non-major event without crowd like IEM Cologne had more.

692k grand finals peak lmfao and people say this dying game will kill cs OMEGALUL

Agree with you big man. I think the diehard Valorant fanboys have an obsession with csgo being dead or dying and then diehard csgo fanboys will never accept Valorant as a competitor to cs. I think a lot of it has to do with how Valorant was advertised as the next cs killer. And cs fans are annoyed because people been calling the game dead since 2017. Unfortunately I don’t think the two games will never go without being compared to one another.
Dota2 TI has more viewership than Valorant but, which game is more successful. From growth to successful content creators to social media presence to a very strong esport etc.
That’s what CSGO thrives on is being an esport. No one cares about CSGO content, it’s social media presence, or anything. Like who casually plays CS lol. That’s a horrible experience. Just… It’s the major and EU & BR treat it like soccer/football.
So, enjoy “winning” viewership but, we all know the last thing to fade is viewership. Just look at StarCraft 2 before LoL took over.
And I’m watching the major btw I’m not a silly ass fanboy lol. And it’s not hitting 3 million. We’ll need another NaVi love story.
More than half the views are from Br, take all the brazilians out and CS is pretty much over
But for some reason they just won’t let the game die, CS has a special connection to brazilian culture that I just can’t explain, and Gaulês won’t let the game die because he owes his life to it no matter how much the international scene forsake him. Idk how it’ll be after after Fallen and co. retires but the br scene is still slowly dying despite its audience.
So yeah, CS andies can keep boasting about their numbers even though their game is only more popular than Val in br, which is funny cause vlr still somehow manages to be more “friendly” to Brazilians than hltv
"More than half the views are from Br" barely one third is from Br :D

Scroll down a bit.
Sorry to tell you but G2 and liquid been playing the whole time, also yeah CS viewership might explode whenever the top teams are playing, CS is a decade old game that amassed a ton of fans throughout its history so of course these fans will come back for the big matches. This is just a casual audience however, T2 scene is basically dead with absolutely no viewers while Val’s is thriving, CS may have high peaks but by only bringing that up you guys are masking the fact that on the overall viewership is very low (20k on twitch normally while Valorant’s is reaching 130k+), notice how CS frogs only invade vlr during majors
because CSGO fans care about esports. Valorant watchers care about the streamers. There is clear distinction. Riot will never do this, but imagine one LAN with no watch party, then you will see how many actually care about esports vs mainly there because of streamer.
You can already see last year when Shroud watch vs him not watching, like less than 50% of his viewers will actually tune into main stream if he is not doing the watch party
Could say the same thing about gaules then, his watchparty is double the size of any in Val, also idk what you mean by viewership has gone down without shroud, that’s not true, he only got much more viewers than watchparties nowadays cause he was the only one actually doing it, his views fell significantly from Reykjavik to Berlin last year, people who want to watch Val won’t stop watching it because their favorite streamer isn’t costreaming.
Also, even if what you said was true, shroud gets ~20k on average, his fans would hardly make a difference
gaules is the only BR stream as far as I am aware, so that make sense that all BR people go there since that is the only place to watch in their language.
for shroud, I am talking about back in the days when he get regular 40-50k stream when stream party. But when he dont stream (either start late or end early), the main stream (and some of the small watch party in total) only get around 10-20k more viewer than usual (if lucky)
There are tons of games more popular than CSGO in Brazil, I don't buy this "special connection to brazilian culture" thing lmao.
CSGO is basically the only big esport where we don't suck, this alongside with Gaules personality and the fact that csgo is realy easy to watch help to draw viewers, most of the people who watch him don't even play CSGO.
Uumm the CS scene is the biggest Esport scene in br by a mile, and yes there is a special connection between its people and the game especially for those born in the 90s. Literally more than half the people in their 20s that you meet in br have played CS, the game came around when people in Br were finally managing to buy their own computers and CS came as a free and extremely entertaining game for this low income youth.
LAN houses are a staple of the 2000s in br, CS also provided an opportunity for countless of poor kids to climb up socially, and it was the first esport scene where we managed to make our mark. All of this comes in a similar way as free fire does to kids nowadays, CS is cultural phenomena in Brazil, you’ll be able to talk about it to most above their 20s Brazilians and everyone will recognize the scene’s most emblematic names such as fer, fallen, taco, cold, fnx, gaules etc
No It's not... League is more popular than CS and Free Fire is probably bigger than the two ones combined lmao. You are just being nostalgic and stuck in a bubble, youngsters do not give a shit about csgo and cs being a profitable job is a recent thing reserved to a really small group of people, BR local scene is in shambles because people only watch if Gaules is casting or if there are any of old washed veterans playing.
I am way above 20 and most of those people that you mentioned became famous only after their short dominance that put the BR scene on the map, the huge boost to csgo viewership came only after gaules turn into a successful streamer.
" Literally more than half the people in their 20s that you meet in br have played CS, the game came around when people in Br were finally managing to buy their own computers and CS came as a free and extremely entertaining game for this low income youth."
This part shows that you obviously do not know your country's reality LMAO.
As I said, free fire is now what CS was 10 years ago, by longevity The CS scene had much more of a staple than lol or free fire.
you literally just ignore all my points: “youngsters don’t care about CS”, yeah, that’s why I said it was much more famous amongst people over 20, while free fire is more popular with the younger generation
“CS is only profitable to a select few”, again, right now it is, but I can name you tens of CS 1.6 pioneers that still owe their entire careers to the game
You clearly know nothing of Brazil’s story in CS since 1.6, it wasn’t the double major wins that came out of nowhere and put us on the map, it was a decade long arduous process and continuous improvement and attempts that managed to get those wins, but even then we were by no means nobodies on the world stage
And about the last art, if you say so
If you think that's it then cs strat wise would be even worse considering you don't have new agents. What is this take lol. I'm talkin about how guns and utility in valorant make it so that eco rounds are actually winnable and losing players early in a round doesn't mean you have to immediately save for next round as you do in cs.
