can someone explain the state of na valorant and what teams to look out for as well as notable players?
teams to look out for: The Guard, FaZe, TSM FTX, 100T, Sentinels, Cloud 9, Version 1, Optic Gaming, NRG, XSET, Luminosity and that's all u really need to worry about tbh in terms of t1 teams there are quite a few more. Check out the respective rosters a lot of ex CS pros. since the game is new the NA scene is thriving
I'm assuming you mean notable players for NA.
The state of NA valorant is interesting right now as the next VCT is about to start so there are more roster changes than normal. Teams are preparing for the next VCT. So it's a bit more hectic than usual. In terms of internationally. NA I would say is pretty solid. However, they aren't the best and other regions are also developing and growing quickly. So that could change next VCT. The gap between regions is a lot closer than last year that's for sure.
I'll try to go over the top ten teams ranked in the rankings section of NA. Though I won't go in order.
The Guard. They're also pretty new, like you. After some rough beginnings, they picked up Trent and from there shot to the top, becoming NA's first seed. They're a little green but have great potential.
Optic (formerly Envy) is always consistently a top contender. I've never really been interested in Optic so I don't know much about them specifically.
100T, a former top-tier team, went through a lot of roster-related changes and eventually almost replaced their entire team except Asuna. They're looking to regain their title after failing miserably at the start of this year.
Xset is like Optic. Consistently top tier, but unlike Optic, they are never quite good enough.
Sentinels used to be Kings of NA Valorant. They fell hard. Or rather they just never improved and fell behind as other teams surpassed them.
TSM also used to be very good and also fell off, only they weren't as good as Sentinels were and also fell behind earlier. They've gone through a couple of roster changes.
Knights are a team that has been around for a while but are new to being tier one. I like them.
LG is in an odd spot where they're both good but also no one really expects them to win or really anything at all from them. They're good enough to surprise people but never good enough to make it as far as they want.
I'm not really familiar with V1's legacy, but they went to the first international event, did surprisingly well, then went through a slump. Recently though they have made a resurgence with their new IGL. People have high hopes for them even though they fell a bit short this VCT.
Cloud9 went to the last masters and is a contender for the top spot in NA. They are pretty strong and have Vanity as their IGL who was V1's igl during their first international appearance. They and Guard are my personal favorite NA teams. IGL is in-game leader if you don't know.
NRG has been known to have S-Tier Individual Talent, but for some reason when playing together never really achieve anything. This has consistently happened over history. They're still a good team though, at least compared to the others in NA.
Notable players would be...
Probably all of the Guard as I said before. Sayaplayer if I had to choose.
Yay from Optic.
Sick from Sentinels.
Everyone from C9, maybe Leaf if I had to narrow it down.
Zander from V1.
Frosty, Skuba, and Ban from Knights have potential.
Dephh and Cryo from Xset.
I could probably name more or write about not top ten teams with potential but I have some other stuff to do right now.
This is honestly perfect. I’d like to mention Yay solidified himself as probably the best NA duelist this masters event and is absolutely cracked. Also XSet are just lacking that spark which will let them beat top teams. TGRD, Optic, C9, and V1 have it. Two of those teams are going home though so it’ll be tense to see who!
I really doubt that. It's not age or experience that's the problem, it's that they're not adaptable, they don't have a deep map pool or good set plays, and they're midrounding is super lackluster. All of those traits don't really matter when facing the majority of other NA teams, but they're really detremental against the real top teams in NA, and if they somehow made it to masters, in the world.
I know but I mean mature as players not as people, this roster has been playing for quite a while and I understand that midrounding is quite lackluster because it all depends on a deph lurk like 90% of the time but with time these things improve they have a really good IGL and a decent coaching staff
Hot take: Dephh is not a really good IGL. At best he's decent, and decent frankly isn't good enough anymore. You need a Vanity, a Zander, or an FNS like IGL to suceed at Tier 1 in NA, by which I mean get to masters.
With Zander, who's arguably not as good of a leader as the other two, he still makes good calls most of the time, and he's very very good at fragging which is rare for a NA IGL. FNS on the other hand is so insanely good at midrounding and antistrating that his lackluster fragging isn't a massive detrement, and Vanity is just incredible at teambuilding, look at what he did for V1 and C9. These IGLs all provide a certain spark to their teams which is missing from XSET, and it's really obvious when they play a truly top team.
