spittin fax tbh lmao
I prefer valorant over cs however cs has no shit spray patterns, no run and guns, no judges (shotgun sniper), and the maps even though they look trash they have way fewer close angles than valorant maps so u don't need to check 1 million spots before going to the site - Valorant is more fun but cs's mechanics are better imo (luck factor in valorant is massive in cs u need more skill)
yup the amount of times u get caught on bad timings, spammed through a wall or smoke, or just get headshot by a guy running with a spectre across the map is unreal, it happens in cs too but it's super rare, in valorant I feel like it happens at least 3-5 times every game, not to mention the spray legit moves up for either vandal or phantom so some guys can shoot at your legs and just let the recoil guide them to the head which is stupid and unskillful
I personally don't think Valorant's maps are any good, except for Breeze which seems genuinely well thought and prepared. Hopefully they'll start delivering more maps just like that. Tho comparing csgo and Valorant at this point is 1head. You can't make a 1 year old game compete against a 20 year old game franchise that had all this time to make as many mistakes as possible just so they would be able to learn from them and fix them. There's a long road ahead for Valorant but so far it's starting to look good, and I'm genuinely glad for that.
Although skins are pretty cool in Valorant IMO they are way overpriced. But people keep buying them so that's business for them.
For the rest of the points you brought up, like the Rank System, Role System, Bans for Toxicity I would definitely agree with you.
Although I feel like you're taking a huge faith leap saying there are literally no hackers, I don't think we'll ever live in a world free of game cheaters. Don't fool yourself.
Anyway I mostly agree with you. I think Val will be a great e-Sport competitor for csgo.
edit: typo
Never had a real competitor with the same genre though. CS will never die, but it's hegemony is over. Val X CS is gonna become lol x Dota2, lol surpassed DotA 1 within a few years, and even with the smaller prize pool the number of players and viewers is incomparable to dota, even though Dota is still very much alive.
Like I said CS has been dying since 2007. It shouldn't be an 'argument'. If anything I'm surprised cs has still managed to live on. When CGS split the 1.6 community, CPL died and Gotfrag died it killed the entire NA scene just like Valorant did but still managed to live 5 more years until Valve released CSGO which killed cs1.6. Also Dota I shouldn't be compared to LoL. Dota like CS1.6 had no backing from anyone, it was all community driven. Some prizemoney were not paid, sponsor issues etc.
How did you even get 14 million player base? I thought riot doesn't even release this information. Also boosting a game from streamers doesn't make the 1 million count honest it much more of a fallacy if anything else.
You seem to forget that counter-strike has no Valve support ever since they bought the mod in circa 2004. All tournaments are created from community until they released CSGO. With Valorant though, you have Riot backing you from the get go and a lot of money into prizepool in different regions. With CS as an esport people just lost interest in the game as time went on, much like Starcraft I.
Thorin is not afraid, because it doesn't matter if CS is gone, he can keep pumping work into other esports as his life revolves around it. If you want a fair comparison put old Quake or UT3 in there. IT's a dead game but journalists from that era still has work in other life in esports. Also thorin has been working since the Early days of eSports which meant he used to work for peanuts and used to seeing the demise of other games. I don't think he will be afraid anytime soon. Having that said I disagree with many of the things he has said esp on twitter.
He needs CS to do well because as he said. His shit wouldn't fly anywhere but the CS community. And even there people hate him. If CSGO disappeared (It wont ever, don't know why fans think these games can't co exist) he would be out of job.
HIs complaints about the replay system are short sighted. CSGO didn't get one till 18 months after release. And devs have already said it's in development. Like yes, Valorant needs a replay system, thankfully one is coming.
I was talking about this.
