Ethan on KayO is filthy. They’re some of my favourite games to watch with him.
You need both. What makes teams like NRG so good is that they are all “system” players for the most part, playing what the team needs. But Brawk, Mada, and Keiko can go off like a star player roles and usually one of them always is.
And Ethan and Skuba keep the chaos in check while being great supporters and are able to make huge plays when it matters. It’s been a while, but Ethan for example in the final rounds of Map 5 in champs against FNATIC.
The reason why I call a lot of NRG players system players is when you look at the stats at the end of the match. It’s rare you have one player miles ahead of teammates. Sometimes the stats are honestly good but never amazing, but it’s all 5 players playing good it’s hard to find a weak link.
This match was just all defaults from both sides. No one was showing anything in a nothing match going into play ins.
That would end the almost year long streak of only losing to NRG, G2 or SEN.
Their entry’s were horrendous. Look at the First Kill/First Death stats between the two teams, both maps. They were basically starting every round getting killed first and praying they at least get the trade.
It’s going to be next to impossible to win against good teams when half the rounds you are starting 4v5 if you didn’t get the trade.
Can only play the teams in their schedule. And they’re 3-1 in their stage 2 against admittedly the lower half of americas teams. But with the talent they have they can go on a heater and beat anyone. Now would I put them in my top 3, no. But their definitely top 5 in Americas.
Top 5 in Americas is super top heavy and could beat each other depending on day.
In no particular order
G2 can go on a rough patch but they are always dangerous. MIBR might not be the super team they were hyped for. But there is a ton of talent on that team.
SEN is super close to be in that group of teams. SEN just need to perform a bit longer at this level for me to put them with the others. But I do think SEN right now can beat anyone if they are playing well. They just need to show that this new team is for real and not just in a honeymoon period. It took almost 11 months of 100T only losing to G2, NRG and SEN (a streak that’s still going), winning an international event, and their current form in Stage 2 to not be considered a meme and for real.
Fuck you right, I get him and Eeiu mixed up nationality wise.
Throw in a fifth random Canadian and that’s my Team Canada team.
4 Unc’s with like the young Golden Retriever, Timotino
Quick Riot, make a made up peace prize and pull a FIFA. You’ll be treated like royalty and the Visa issues go away.
I think low key 100T has been really solid for quiet some time. The only teams 100T’s have lost to in 11 months are G2, NRG, and SEN.
I haven’t looked into it, but I would imagine the majority of teams wish they can say that. And Since eWC they’ve looked strong. Credit were credit is due.
A $2 million prize pool 16 team tournament is something you absolutely can criticize their performance. esports World Cup was about as big as a tournament can get outside like Champs.
Who cares who is hosting the event if the teams are some of the best in the world and the prize money is huge. It’s not like he wasn’t trying, everyone at this tournament tried as hard as they could to win.
This wasn’t some Red Bull Home Ground tournament.
PRX 2-1 Liquid
LOUD 2-0 Zeta
FPX 2-0 KRU
FNATIC 2-1 100T
I think Fnatic vs 100T is the hardest one to guess. Which Fnatic shows up.
While it sucks that’s the case, I’d actually be ok with it in the long run. If it’s just cause the gap, there’s a solid chance for them to return for VCT season 2. Honestly it wouldn’t shock me if we see a large handful of smaller teams disband until next season. Obviously not a good thing, but better than them just not wanting to compete in Valo.
Yes and no. Because EMEA has the most teams, it was the one region that could have 2 teams in a group. With all the other regions having 3 or less teams, they were going to be separate no matter what.
With the random drawing, by chance 2 EMEA teams got put in the same group for this reason.
It's no ones fault. Groups were random.
Groups are fine. The fact people would rather have hand picked groups over random draw is nuts. We have known for over a week two EMEA teams could be in the same group if the drawing went in that direction.
It has been known for over a week two teams from EMEA could be in the same group if the random odds went that way. It wasn't decided by Riot to but two EMEA teams in the same group, it was by chance because EMEA has the most teams.
They announced days ago that there was a chance that two EMEA teams could be in a group. Was random to a point. Chances are there was always gonna be one stacked group.
This was said about Iceland too. Eventually it will be correct, but saying it before every LAN is just dumb when we have no real way to compare the teams since Iceland. Of course the odds aren't in SENS favour to repeat, there's like 8 teams that realistically have a chance to go on a run and win it all. But pretending you are some expert that is seeing something in the game most people are is silly.
It’s really hard to guess. As there is a chance 2 EMEA teams go in the same group depending on where they get drawn.
While it would be nice if all EMEA teams are separate, don’t get upset people if the drawing isn’t in your favour and 2 EMEA teams are in a group. That’s just the way odds go sometimes. All the other regions thankfully will have only one team max.
Nah, 4 groups still. Just 2 teams now from each group make it out, where before it was only 1. 8 teams that make it out play in a Bo3 8 team single elimination bracket, BO5 grand finals.
Just a reminder. There is a chance 2 EMEA teams can get put into the same group because they have 4 teams. The other regions can’t get more than one team in each group.
Here’s hoping that if he did something ban worthy, he is being up front with Envy and Riot right now so they can plan ahead. Or Riot might not care since it didn’t happen in Valorant and players like Brax are here anyways.
Yup, but then based on seeding, they are randomly put into groups.
The groups are fine. With the amount of good teams, one group was gonna be the group of death no matter what. Relax.
You do realize the group aren’t hand picked right and are random to a point right?
Was this on the Plat Chat podcast? I thought it was Nukkye too tbh. But maybe it was Mixwell as I believe he was there too.
I think this is just some healthy rivalry banter. Fun to see as fans. Especially now that both teams have qualified for Berlin.
Doesn't mean anything IMO, OCE teams play in NA in a vast amount of eSports. No one thinks of them as an NA team.
In the 7 continent category which the majority of the world uses, they do put Turkey in part of Asia, where Turkey boarders the European continent. That isn't to say Turkey are Asians, it's just what they called the continent. Just like how the Australian continent contains a lot more countries than just Australia.
Actually curious because it changes where you live, if you type what are the continents into google, what comes up for you living in Turkey?
Edit: I think I might have misunderstood your comment, my apologies if so. If you meant that a small part of Turkey resides in Europe while the majority is in Asia, then yup I agree.
Again, depends where you are taught. If I type in google what are the continents. The 7 continents listed are North American, South American, Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, and Antarctica.
Eurasia is a thing, but most of the world separates them in their teachings.
It would be weird if anyone did, as Riot doesn’t even consider them part of Europe, hence why it’s called EMEA and not just Europe.
It would be like an OCE team going through the NA LCQ, and being considered North American. OCE is OCE, Gambit is CIS, SMB is Turkey, and EU is G2 and Acend. I’d be surprised anyways if Riot keeps the regions as is going into next years VCT anyways.
Depends where you live, as unfortunately the world cant even agree how many continents there are in the world.
In the 7 continent system. Russia and Turkey are actually put in the Asian continent, not Europe.
I'd wait till after LCQ unless a big name comes up they can't say no to.
After LCQ teams will be shuffling tons of players around for next year. I love the Potter to head coach move, while her mechanical skill might not be able to keep up with the very best. Her brain for the game is incredible.
Boostio is looking fantastic so far. Anyone know his age? Would be great if he is a young dude EG could build the future around like Asuna on 100T.
Personally for me Roca is the first player that needs to be replaced. If he was playing anyone but Reyna I could be OK with his fragging. But if you are playing Reyna, you need to be near the top of the server in terms of Kills or you are a hindrance to your team and better off on like any agent. I don't know what's going behind the scene, maybe for some reason the team feels this is the best move. But I just find it hard to imagine. Play a Skye or like a KAY/O, an agent that can frag for themselves but also setup the team and gather info.
Edit: As I say this he is fragging out great on Accent again C9B, hope it continues. Maybe with the roster moves he will be unlocked. Or it's a random one off.
I don’t blame the format for X10. Truthfully it’s their own fault, they screwed themselves when they used a well known exploit and got penalized points that if they would have had they would have made it past groups. Losing Patiphan definitely is a big hit though.
Has performed well in the stats department as well considering he usually plays Sentinel characters or KAY/O. Not really gonna count that one off Jett map yet. Though if he brings it out in Berlin, he might need to start being asked for more on the fragging side. But his fragging as a sentinel and lurker are great.
Feel the same way, while I think Gambit is the better team, I’d even be happy if Forze somehow qualified instead just so Berlin gets some CIS representation. It’s sad that in order to get the CIS representation, one of EU’s most popular teams in Liquid has to fall though.
I love that SMB made Berlin like most people. But I think people are getting way too ahead of themselves here. At least let the playoffs end before we start calling SMB the new rulers of EMEA and soon the world.
While I agree that SEN’s reign will end (all things do, I think it’s going to be very tough to win Masters). I don’t think it’s because of this NA talent pool idea. The majority of the best players in NA Valorant are/were CS outcasts that either couldn’t find a good team or success. It’s not like before Valorant people were going, “damn ShahZam and TenZ on the same team, that will dominate everyone. Or “Dapr and Zombs, that might be two of the best non duelist players NA has.”
100T I would say are the one team that did have players that could have still found a winning spot on a team in CS, but even then. Hiko, Steel and Asuna are not part of this CS talent pool that NA had an advantage supposedly. I would agree if it was players like Twistzz, Elige, Naf, Stewie, etc that were on some Valorant line up tearing it up. But so far the best NA players are players who had a hard time finding success in CS GO.
IMO the talent that will decide who is the best region in the next year or so. Are the young 17-18 year olds, not ex CS Players unless they are the big big names.
Same, Acend, SMB, And Gambit are a great representation from the region. I am happy we at least get one TR or CIS team. I want a CIS team as well. But is a CIS team qualifies, it means Liquid is out no matter what just cause the bracket. IMO that’s unfortunate, as Liquid has a pretty big fanbase, but I also want representation from more regions like CIS.
My guess is Acend, SMB (obviously), Gambit, and G2. While G2 played horribly today. I think they can bounce back, and should be able to beat the winner of Guild or Giants.
I love this, win or lose. The light hearted trash talk is always fun and helps form rivalries. SMB come out of this looking like potential champs, or fools. Definitely entertaining.
I’m not expecting it sadly, I think the best they will allow is a small amount of people in. But I want to be wrong.
Lol hey, last time Dapr went for the knife in Iceland, he got death threats. Some fans take their video games a bit too serious lol.
We got to see Steel on a Jett which was interesting lol. I actually like it. While I think the seeding matches are important going into a International LAN. I actually like seeing 100T give Steel the Jett. His KAYO is probably the best I’ve seen, maybe he will continue to drift away from his normal sentinel agents. Unless he was just taking the piss and having fun.
This match even as a SEN fan I don’t think means much. It was a rare day where Asuna wasn’t the monster he normally is. We had Steel on a Jett. 100T hasn’t been able to beat SEN in some time, for all we know 100T was using this as a high tier scrim.
Yeah that would be ok. Shorty plays that role a bit, but has reserve ammo. And it also misses the glorious Zeus kill sound. If they were to add a Zeus type gun to the game I’d be for it.
