In response, the organization has suspended head coach David "dd8" Denis ahead of the upcoming second qualifier.

Official statement regarding #VALORANT.

T1 met TSM in the lower bracket of NA's first Challengers qualifier just days prior. After Map 1 victory and 8-4 lead on Map 2 for T1, the match was paused and eventually cancelled. Shortly after, Riot released a statement affirming allegations made by TSM after Map 1, stating that dd8 had provided instructions to T1 players while the match was in progress. As a result, T1 was forced to forfeit the match in its entirety, just two rounds away from potential qualification.

dd8 will now be suspended from the organization ahead of this weekend's qualifier. Yup as there's absolutely nothing in between "suspension for one qualifier" and "career ending violation". Dude.

I'm just paying attention to the specific wording in the source post. Time will tell what T1 will do long term, but the incident will be a strain on their reputation, especially if coach goes back to work as usual. The players' involvement is obviously a separate subject.

To be fair, Valorant has a number of incidents of teams with Coaches in the calls or even main calling for teams in the past. From recent examples like G2 in the challengers qualifier or to historical examples like Ascent in masters 1 2021. Coaches in the calls aint a new thing in Valorant. Is the suspension warranted yes probably, is it going to be a long term measure, I doubt. T1 have a lot invested in David Dennis and the system he has built around this team so it's unlikely his gone

The difference is coaches were allowed to call at first. The fact they are not now imo is a change in a good direction, otherwise there wouldn't be a need for IGLs. Most CS:GO event organizers made the same move in the past.
It isn't as serious of a violation as f.e. using external cheating software or streamsniping, but now it is a violation nonetheless and should be treated as such.

It wasn't that they were allowed to call, but there was no rule for it. So every admin had no idea, and some allowed, some didn't. This is the reason why even Acend's case was pretty yikes, but then u realize the admin told them that the couch could call, so it's not insanely bad.

I mean it has to be regarded as a violation, not sure how they will enforce this due to this being set as the precedent now.

I understand Riot's punishment.
I don't understand T1's punishment. Why punishing the coach while they left the players, analyst, etc. unpunished if they all knew what they were doing?

This is just a sad intent to try to save your org's reputation while throwing your coach's reputation to the mud

No, if you don't want to skip the next quali, then don't punish JUST your coach. That is stupid and morally debatable, in my opinion. Riot's punishment is more than enough. If you really want to punish anyone, punish everyone involved

idk why people are supporting t1 here using a logic that other teams must be cheating too, all cheaters definitely deserve to be punished. That said, I'd like to know the extent of the situation. Was he constantly typing in team chat during the whole match, or was this just one slip up ' help sewer". If it was the former, the whole team including players should be suspended because they are complicit in the cheating. If latter, than just suspending him is fine. Its hard to judge if this punishment is good without knowing how bad the cheating was.
