there is enough talent in NA+SA to make good teams imho
not really tbh. I know the Tier 2 scene in brazil is worse than NA, and I can confidently say NA tier 2 talent pool is strong, but I am not confident in 25 players over the age of 18 being Tier 1 worthy.
if players know they have a path to T1 they are more willing to grind and be better and it's more attractive to talent.
this can be true but there's not really any data to back it up. A lot of players just grind because of passion tbh, but it is true that more people would attempt to go pro if the scene was more stable and viable. That being said, this isn't meaning players would get paid more; assuming investment in the scene stays at a similar level, better tier players would get paid less or (if league minimum wasn't a thing) new players would get paid close to nothing, meaning the average salary would drop and the scene would be even less stable.
I also want to add in here that I believe this would disincentive investment into the esport, which should be 100% priority over this. Currently, you are competing against 47 other teams for an international title, but with this change, you would be competing against 59 other teams increasing competition. If competition goes up, profitable and investment goes down.
ESPECIALLY for Brazil + LATAM. FURIA, LOUD, MiBR are established so that's 15 slots only for players. 2g is ascended and an option but iffy.
You gotta remember all of brazil was dead last at the end of last season. A lower amount of teams increases the short term performance of a region by condensing top talent, and if brazil struggles with this currently this would just make brazil suffer much much more than if top talent spreads out. (I will say there is potential for it to incentivize future talent to grow, however I believe spreading out the talent by 3x would outdo the potential talent growth. Anyways, Tier 1 shouldn't be a place for talent growth, a better solution is to better invest and manage Tier 2).
LEV is almost fully american now
I think this just proves my earlier point, NA is stronger currently and it made sense for LEV to use an NA roster. We shouldn't give more slots to a weaker region.
5 is an odd number sure but they could still make it work and honestly
No. We'd have swiss stages at every international, 5 groups at champs, it'd be a whole mess. Unless you have a REALLY strong way around it we're just gonna have 2024 kickoff again at every international. This and the increased competition for investors are the 2 biggest problems with it
