SEN win is basically like if a flawless team won something, boring for people outside of SEN

T1 winning is basically like if short bus kids won something (cause no one expected anything out of them)

The Sen one is still iconic more the T1 one since it also was a reverse sweep

naw it wasn’t. reverse sweep would be if you were up 2-0 then lost all 3 remaining maps

I think it has to do with the level of teams coming into the tournament this year. All first seeds from the 4 tournaments looked great and in form, coming into Bangkok. And ironically, excluding T1, all the second seeds were said to be capable of making upsets: SEN hype needs no explanation, some people were bringing up TE's win against EDG and some of their players' previous records against big Americas teams, and even TL had some believers of an upset against their opening match against EDG.

The grand finals was also a very close match. So close that some people were (and still are) even arguing that G2 were the better team overall even after their loss.

Personally, I don't think Madrid or Bangkok were "mickey mouse" tournaments or fluke wins. Such comments are either empty trash talk or rage baits.

The SEN roster who won Madrid managed to perform well enough in Champs to be remembered fondly by many; just look at the threads after each SEN loss, people were constantly talking about the "downgrades". G2, who lost at Bangkok, are named as "the best in the world" right now because of how well they are playing currently. And if T1 doesn't perform well during Stage 1 or in Toronto, I am sure there will be many threads about "T1's fluke run" in Bangkok. In the end, the legacy of these results will be remembered by the consistency of their producers.

pacific in general was looked down on by many people, probably the main reason for why people come up with those narratives

Look at how the tables have turned. Pacific looks like the best region by (almost) everyone now.

i think a part of it has to do how shaky t1 looked in kickoff. it’s a fact that they did not look anywhere near as good as they did in bangkok and that is why people brushed them off, especially after their first match after vit

Yeah, it's undeniable that T1's performance got better and better as the tournament went on; they didn't look like a team that could be winner of the tournament, at the beginning. Sylvan, especially, was a massive improvement; his ace against EDG in the first play-off match and overall performance really inspired T1 and they all played in a more controlled way. It was a really good run.

sen or t1.
It's still a mickey mouse tournement tho. but not mickey mouse like 2023 lock-in. it was shit.

It’s Mickey Mouse since everything is experimental and people are trying to learn the reactions to the new agents. May be the reason why imo tejo seemed more broken during kickoff compared to stage 1. As for sens run last year it was the skye changes before 2024 kickoff
